I recently bought a Long Branch No.4 Mk.1* from TG International, via GunBroker. Rifle is dated 1945, S/N 86L 8654. Has last four digits of S/N on the bottom of the fore-end, about midway between the upper and lower barrel bands. Buttstock has "C" with broad arrow immediately aft of the butt socket. Brass butt plate, adjustable rear sight (stamped, not milled). Matching bolt. Has the "dreaded Ishapore screw", but no FTR markings.

Someone sent me some pictures of his 1945 LB sniper and REL scope #236. I saved the pictures, (thank you) and was getting ready to reply to this nice gentleman's post, and in an attempt to archive the post, deleted it!!! I don't have your email, sir! Please send me a note again. I'd like to discuss your scope and rifle-it has similarities to one I've seen.

1944 Mk1* number 73L7435. Savage front sight blade and nose band. It has H28 stamped low down on the left butt socket under the serial number.

I believe the rifle that I have the No.4 Mk1 does not have a star on it. I will check after I get home from work which will be about 0800. I do have the serial number though which is 18L4800.
I will be back on with further information somewhere in the neighborhood 1800 to 2400 or later on 10022010.
update to earlier post, the Mk1 that I have does have the star, but in front of it is .303 British,under that is United Kingdom, under that it has three numbers starting with
a 3_ _ a word and then Co.. I haven't fully gone over the weapon as of yet due to working, but I will be making a closer look at everything.
