Lee enfield coocker safety

In my case since I just retrofitted a safety to the rear of the bolt, this is what I get when I use it.
Bolt closed no round in the chamber magazine out.
I move the the thumb safety lever down it locks the bolt in place closing on the first 1/2 moon.
Can not lift the bolt handle unless I take the safety off by lifting the thumb release.
That seems fine as I never used one of these safety's ever.
With the safety off I can pull back the bolt let it cock and if I wanted to pull the trigger no problem it will fire the firing pin.
But if in the cocked position I put on the safety which closes down on the end of the bolt,
i can pull the trigger nothing happens. That is fine also.
But if I take the safety off pull the trigger, the fireing pin seems to go to the 1/2 cocked position, if the is one, and to fire the rifle I would have to pull back the firing pin end to re cock it to fire.
Since I'm new to these rifles and safety is there a problem the sear or safety piece , or comination of both, since I just added this extension to the bolt to have a safety.??

Maybe we ought to cut to the quick and just say that locking bolt rear = safety ON or ENGAGED. Locking bolt forwards = safety OFF or DISENGAGED. now we know that the cockimng piece cam on the end of the locking bolt axis shaft is broken off.

In the great scheme of things, this is the WORST possible scenario because the safety catch part locks the bolt which is NOT a critical safety feature whereas the cocking piece cam prevents the rifle from being fired which I argue is a fairly important safety feature
