Outstanding results. Thanks for the photos as I am sure it will help others wanting to give it a go. I like the way the process leaves what remains of the blueing and "kills" the rust. Leaves the firearm looking unmolested vs beadblasting & reblue.

Looking good now, that stock won't be so easy though. Don't know about that kit...haven't used that.

I put it back together this evening after some light polishing of the shroud and cold bluing it. Might be all the more I do with the metal, not sure. Still showing orange in some of the photos that is not showing in natural light. Not sure what is going on with that. I've steel wooled it and oiled it. Waiting on the guard screw and the sight spring. As soon as I can get to Home Depot I plan to check into their wood hardeners, not in a huge rush plus I get there about three times a week.

Sure a far cry from what we were originally looking at here isn't it?
I'm going to try electrolysis one day, thanks for posting the progress of your project.
Maybe just some small parts first because of the heating of the components afterwards.
I think the consensus was that heating isn't necessary afterwards. Yes? No?
I actually found the PC Rot Terminator at my local hardware store. Will let you know how it works when I get a chance to use it.
