I have had an interest in weapons for many years and am the proud owner of several.

I picked up a Savage No4 Mk1* on an impulse, for $150 and would like to know more. It looks great, but has problems. It appears to be 100% Savage but does not headspeace with the number 1 bolt head. I have not been able to buy or trade for a number 3.

There is a sliver of metal missing on the bore side of the bolt head slot. The bolt seems to work well but I think a stone might be called for. The bore is bright.

It has 55C3582 as it's serial number, but no date. The butt stock has a boxed S. The parts I have checked, including the magazine all have the S mark.

Once I get more knowledgable I will know where to check for Savage marks.

I am hoping the members can help me and educate me.

Hello everyone.
I learned to shoot the No4 in a high school cadet corps in Toronto in the late 60s, and managed to find a 1942 Long Branch - still in the cosmoline - down here in the US. It has been to New Zealand along the way as you can see by the stamp on the wrist (hope the pix attached OK.)
Wonder what happened to all those C No7 .22s that we had in school.....

I save alot of military surplus items ranging from aircraft ejection seats and cockpit parts, guns and ordnance.

Hello: I am a Marine who was released from active duty over 46 years ago. I served with the 1st Recon Bn., 1st Marine Division. I am a new guy here. Some of the weapons I have are as follows. K98 Mauser, No 5 Jungle Carbine, 12 gauge Shotgun, a 30 cal. M1 Carbine and a Luger Pistol.

I have a number of military items in my collection.

Just getting use to computers.

I am fairly new to collecting milsurps, but like a lot of other people have said, it's an addiction:P. I am a NRA life member. I am a young collector(15 years old), was lucky enough to be born into a family that loves guns, my great grandfather used to collect firearms, and when he passed away I inherited 3 03A3's. My collection as it stands right now is 2 Smith Corona 03A3's, a Santa Fe 03A3, No.1 MK III, No.4 MK I, M44, and an Iwo Jima edition M1 Garand(not an original I know, but still a beautiful rifle).

I've always been interested in history especially WW2. Always love reading about the Waffen SS, and the Fallschirmjaeger. Favorite weapon is the FG42. When I finally acquired a C & R license, it turned out the FG42 is worth more than my house.
