I am looking to learn and have started already to learn about my newly acquired 1955 Lee Enfield No4 Mark II (no.4 mk2) Rifle still wrapped. I would like to preserve the value of it and at the same time shoot the you know what out of it. I learned from this site that it is very accurate. I did pull a little of the wrap to check it out more but couldn't bring myself to unwrapping it fully.
Anyway, I would like to thank all the experts here for sharing because I love to learn.
I'm more of a history buff than a collector, never had the money and now that I'm retired don't think I ever will:mad: But I have enjoyed reading on this forum and decided to join to learn even more. Thanks for a great place to find out what I want to learn.

I wish to introduce myself to the Lee Enfield Community. I live in the State of Colorado and have just recently become interested in the Lee Enfield rifle.
I am looking for information on a BSA unit 17L5236 that appears to have been made for the Australian military. I am not certain if it was built as a jungle carbine or sporterized. The number on the breach and stock is 6326 and there is also a number on the breach 17570.

New guy here. Bought a Lee Enfield no4 mk1 two years ago. It sat in storage till last week when I finally took a trip to the shooting range and had some fun. This is my first military surplus rifle and I look forward to adding a few more. So far im really impressed with this forum and glad to be here.

Although I've consulted the knowledge libraries on many occasions over the last couple of years, I've not registered on milsurps.com until tpday. However, my collecting has now reached the point where I need the kind of detailed information that maybe only this site can offer. I'm interested in pre-WW1 military and civilian rifles (collecting in the UK dosn't give me much choice about that, but I've always generally preferred rifle to pistol shooting anyway).
I moved back into shooting after a 20 year gap when I restored early Land Rovers for fun, and having counted so many rivets in that hobby, I'm now unfortuantely taking the same approach to acquiring and restoring milsurps. Can't shake the disease!
First time poster, long time lurker. I've had a love for shooting and collecting firearms for almost 45 years. I believe I contracted it when I was old enough to hold my Dad’s Mossberg 51M. My Dad received this rifle from his dad when he returned from the Pacific after WWII.
There are several family stories about this rifle and it is present in a number of old black and white photos from after the war. It sat in the gun rack in the family room and later bedroom throughout my youth with a number of old shotguns and rifles. A British Jungle Carbine, a Japanese Ariska (a bring back), a Trapdoor Springfield and later a 1903 Springfield.
In September of 2008, my Dad passed away after a long fight with cancer. He told our Mom that he wanted his boys to have his guns. We drew lots and I inherited his Mossberg, the Trapdoor Springfield and the 1903 Springfield, and assorted others. Since his passing I have collected a couple of British Enfield's, a half dozen Mausers, a 1917 Enfield and in the process of purchasing a 1903a3 Springfield. I also collected a bunch of pre and post war Mossbergs!
I am looking forward to learning more from this forum.

Being here in the Democratic peoples republic of Australia, my weapons collection is very small as our beloved leaders are scared of us, the unwashed masses!
But Iam aiming ( pardon the pun) to get a de activated Bren, SLR and a Sterling SMG, I have a museum lisence which goes a long way, in my armoury at the moment are six AK 47's and an AK 74, 1 x RPK, resin SLR ( piece of crap!) a resin M16 MK 1 also a piece of crap, a M16 mk2 not too bad but not great! and finally the .30cal for the Saracen and 2x 14.5mm KVPT for the SKOT and the BRDM 2.
I also collect gear from that period both Soviet and Nato.
