I like Parker Hale rifles. I have just acquired a PHM87 rifle which i REALLy like. I will be getting another in may-june when its available. When my numbers come up i will buy a PHM85 ( i wish) until then it will be nice to get to know my 2 new rifles.
I look forward to any discussion on Parker Hale M rifles that appear on the this great site.:D

Im looking forward to this site as I have a lot to learn. First thing is how to adjust the scope on a Lee Enfield 4 (T) i have acquired from ' boltaction'. This particular rifle is featured here and the information comments and analysis went a long way in helping me make a decision along with 'stencollector's' input

Hi everyone thanks for allowing me to join you. I am a new gun owner and since I am a huge Military History buff I wanted to start my collection with an M1 Carbine so I have been looking at all the sites and researching M1's which is how I came across your site.

Can I start right off with a question I am currently looking at a Winchester M1 Carbine with a serial number of 5829xxx does anyone know if this was a WWII Carbine?

I am anxious to start reading all of the threads so thanks.

I joined this forum so that I could reply to an old thread I stumbled across ("CM marked bullet guides") while doing research on WWII alloy steel composition restrictions.

I am a member of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, I have restored several wartime era vehicles, including a 1943 and a 1945 Willys MB Jeep. Every vehicle had an on-board toolkit, and every toolkit had alloy steel wrenches. There is a big debate in our community (G503.com is Military Vehicles, The WWII Military Jeep, Parts, Olive Drab and All Related Things.) about when tool manufacturers such as Williams, Armstrong, Fairmount, and others supplying tools to Willys, Ford, Dodge, and GMC switched over from pre-war high-grade alloy compositions (typically with forged-in "Chrome-Molybdenum", "Chrome-Vanadium" and similar markings) to the new so-called National Emergency or War Department steel formulas (typically marked "Alloy" or not at all) due to War Production Board alloy controls and restrictions.

Anyway, as I said, I replied to the thread to ask some questions, and I am waiting for a moderator to review it for posting.

Meanwhile, I thought I would say hello.

Current collection includes

Slazenger Model 1a - Single shot .22
Slazenger Model 12 - .22 Repeater
Slazenger Model 24 - .22 Hornet Repeater
Lithgow .410 Single shot bolt action shotgun

Although not exactly Military Surplus I also have a Jager Kentucky .45 Black powder rifle.

New to this forum, interested in WWII military firearms.

New to rifles, but avid in handguns for years - shooting, collecting, and reloading. I have several buddies who have been on me like a hobo on a ham sammich to get into rifles for years, but I've never had the urge.

The rifles they want me to get into are mostly AR platform. I've never really responded well to follow the most popular trend pressure, so I figured I would go this route just to agitate them...

I don't own anything interesting yet in the rifle vein, but joined to research and decide. Whatever I choose, I just want a well performing rifle with some character that the average range shooter will not have in his arsenal.
