New Member here snowbird from Wis
hello, max morgan here-- snowbird from wisconsin spending winters in texas. retired dentist age 73. just finished a dozen years of cowboy action shooting. wore out some joints working the actions of the old timey single action revolvers and the lever action rifles. now i am getting back into shooting the old modern guns and my favorites are the 1911 and the .30 caliber carbine. i have a replica of the trench gun for shotgun fun as well. these guns are easier on one's old body. have been going to a bunch of gun shows in northeast texas. found a second 30 carbine that needs just a bit of work. it is an inland date of mfg, 12/1944. it came with some rusty magazines, a bayonet, and it shoots ok. the trigger sure needs an action job. gotta find out how to do that or who does that work for hire. plan to upgrade to a scout scope so the old eyes can get good sight pictures. put a scope on the first carbine last summer.
in the air force, at age 19, one's eyes worked a whole lot better than they do at my current age of 73. the addition of a 1X power pistol scope really makes it possible to get great sight alignment.
anyway, in wisconsin a friend has a private range where we shoot steel mostly. we have some fun targets that are falling plates, plinking plates, plates that launch clay pigeons for a second shotshell to break the clay or make a full pop can explode. the trench gun gets to shoot 42" tall pepper poppers from the hip (lots of misses here) when hit these big plates fall down.
i like to reload all sorts of ammo for the handguns, the rifles / carbine, and the shotguns. this is a good thing in these days of devalued money and outrageous prices.
we go to a trap or skeet club when we feel the need to be humbled.
anyway good to be here.

Hello from the occupied Republic of California
Hello all! I found the site tonight while searching out a replacement lanyard loop for my 1918 M1911. Great site! Lots of helpful information.

Hi all
Having recently purchased a 1918 No1 Mk3* and a Scopeless No4T after about 30yrs of shooting, I thought this would be a great place to learn about these fine rifles. I'm a military man with 17yrs in the airforce wot wot and have a fascination for vintage aircraft and rifles. Forgive me if some of my questions seem a bit daft.
New from Northwest Florida
Hello and thanks for the add to the forum, I am from Northwest Florida, Youngstown area.
First introduction message to the community
Hi to everyone! Recently joined the group and looking forward to mingling, talking and learning lots about lots, but in particular my hobby of a few years, binoculars. Already recognise this as a GREAT forum site - plenty of talent out there!!
Milsurps User but New Member
Aloha:
I am a C & R collector, shooter, hunter, and NRA member located in a state with restrictive gun laws. We are gun range poor but have ample opportunity to hunt. I have used the Milsurps site and would like to see it continue to provide easy access to good information.
carcano 6.5x52 and bayonet plus an original sling
Well I am new at this and was looking up things about the carcano 6.5x52 rifle. It has a sling with the markings of SA stamped on it, the rifle has 1B and Terni and 1A5952 stamped on barrel, I have had it for about 40 years and I shot it 1 time, The bayonet has an S 1942 and I can not read the ps 9 real good real fine shape both rifle and bayonet but the sling has signs of drying out. This post may not interest anyone but it was nice to say something about my rifle that I have been trying to get ammo for it. thanks everybody
halftracks and miltary rifles
Hi , new to Milsurls
just recently purchased a rather beat up halftrack, but it runs and will be lots of fun to find all the missing parts.
currently constructing a repro M2 (WWII) and the M9 (Vietnam) flamethrower, with all new castings. coming along well.
have an early Enfield with lots of questions I hope to get answered from the extensive knowledge base on this site
Recent collector of sporterized milsurps that need a good home
Hi,
First time poster but long term lurker here. Given the comprehensiveness of the comments and knowledge displayed here, haven't really had a question that was not answered in previous posts. I like to reload and fit loads to a particular gun for accuracy so it started when I found a lonely sporterized Mk4 No. 1 Maltby at a dirt cheap price. Over time, the Enfields proliferated but given that the T99 Arisaka shares a similar bore size, bought a sporterized version of that, but then Mosin Nagants were coming through cheap so bought a Hex Receiver Mosin, and now Swiss and American rifles. Just got around to reloading for .308 caliber other than .30-.30 so my reloading habits tends to direct my buying. Few have been in original configuration and as I am a shooter (I will not own a gun that I do not safely shoot including blackpowders), I have spent the time using forums such as these to slowly restore to appropriate military condition.
FWIW, I refuse to engage in flamewars and I understand a significant portion of collectors want everything to be in original condition. I am not one of them. I refused to view cleaning and fixing non-matching milsurps as a sacrilegel--thus a cracked handguards and stocks gets fixed, improper finishes such as poly are removed, excess cosmolene is drawn out of stocks (oily wood is weaker for shooting), etc. The few matching milsurps that I do have usually by accident, I pretty much leave alone but I view parts rifles as fit for shooting given gunsmith approval and will fix them according to my own wishes and desires.
In particular over the time that I have lurked, I have found Riceone, Chuck in Denver, and Peter Laidler's comments to be stellar and always informative and I wish to thank them for their help to this befuddled accidental milsurp shooter.
Nuff said.

Hey from a soon to be owner of a No.1 MkIII*
Hey Guys,
I have been trawling through your forums while awaiting the arrival of my No1 MkIII* BSA. Living in down under, the cooling off period of 28 days gives plenty of time to do research!
Thanks for the wealth of info and experience - looking forward to my journey into the land of Milsurps! :)
Greetings from new member. Calgary, Alberta, born in B.C.
Greetings. This is my first post, even though I have been in the system for something like 2 years. I never really have had anything to say, but I think I have now enough military surplus rifles to warrant an appearance. I have always enjoyed this equipment, even from early childhood, to the point where modern firearms do not interest me at all.
My major area of interest is WWII, main emphasis on Eastern Front, followed by Russian Civil War and WW I. I have 3 Soviet rifles, 2 Mosin Nagants (1 is Czech manufacture), and an SVT 40. I am looking for a Nagant revolver, Imperial or Soviet, unfortunately there have become more difficult to find lately. Same as with Lee Enfield, grew surrounded by them, now there are more expensive every day.
Thank you for your attention.
Hi, I'm new to the forum but not to this sight or milsurp collecting and shooting
I recently got into trapdoors, received a quick education and now have three. looking for info and maybe a good place to sell one.
Nice to find this Forum, and as a bonus it's Canadian!
Never realized this forum existed, so pleased to find it. I'm on Vancouver Island and actively shoot Milsurp rifles. I've owned M42B's, M38's, a 7.62 Israeli Mauser, an M-14, a Browning Hi-power, and currently a mint 1950 Soviet SKS, M44 Carbine, and now a Norinco 45ACP clone. Enjoy them all! Hope to have some good discussions with people here. I've been reloading for over 40 years, and cast all my own bullets. :D

I used to be into old cars, this is much more interesting...
Hello everybody, new to the forum and while i have owned some old milsurp for a while, i have just become more deeply interested in the hobby. I'm the one at the Forks of the Delaware Gun Show that keeps looking in his wallet to see if some money has magically appeared since i got there. Someday one of those Krags, 1894 carbines or Trapdoors will be mine!
