Hello,
Great site.
I'm 63, I've been shooting since I was 6, far as I can recall.
Retired Navy, Nam Vet (Delta / Mobile Riverine), Navy Diver, live in Imperial Beach, Ca., South Bay San Diego County.
Passionate about all shooting sports, have a great Lab, love duck hunting, bird hunting, big game hunting, some competitive shooting.
Just picked up a No. I MK5 Jungle Carbine...having a very tough time getting it to shoot fair groups. Battle sight puts everything about a foot low, not bad on windage (those 6 inch groups at 100 yds.), flip up long range sight will get the group up, but shoots right about 6 to 8 inches, center of cluster. Really frustrated. Everything is tight.
I can't bring the front sight down, or replace it with a shorter sight...the blade on the existing front sight base is about as short as you can go. Just a nub.
Perfect bore, stock / wood serial numbers match, as do all numbers on bolt, receiver, etc,
Any ideas?
At 50 yards I could put it on a deer, but I'd have to hold on the back line over he shoulder. 100 yds. ? Forgeddaboudit. Managed 7 out of fifteen in the black , 8 inch bull,,,but they were all over it. Not good. Tried three different types of ammo, milsurp (Greek ) , Remington and Hornady. No joy.
Have a few M1's, M1A, Springfield 03A3, Mausers, Moison Nagant, some other open sighted rifles, iron, no glass...and this is by far the most inaccurate rifle I've ever shouldered. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Great looking carbine, hate to give up on it! All original, 1945 date. Thanks...nice to be here! Kenny Moore

Hi All
My main interest is in Ex Military Land Rovers but I do come across other items of equipment which I purchase and restore. I'm hoping forum members will be able to assist.

I want to say hello to everyone within the Milsurp community. I am a retired band-director with 32 years of teaching experience. I retired in 08 and have been doing master-classes and private lessons in my community. I am now 61 years old and only now recently have I been able to start deer hunting. I inherited an old German 8mm Mauser from my father-in-law after he passed. Unfortunately, he unknowingly ruined the gun by trying to add a scope mount. Without knowing it he drilled into the cartridge chamber therefore rendering the gun unsafe. I had many rounds of recently acquired 8mm Mauser rounds with nothing to shoot them with. So, I purchased a Yugo M48 with matching serial numbers and in super condition. I have done much research on the history of the Mauser and am very excited to have this gun.
I look forward to drawing on everyone's experience with this fine rifle. This is not actually the first time I have registered with this website. The problem is I forgot my member ID and password and couldn't refigure it out. So, I did the only thing that would work for me, and just started over.
Born 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Spent my first 20 years in Knoxville, joined the US Army, spent 20 years in the Army and retired. Still working. I have several Rifles and pistols... and will make some photos to post..
Hello to All!
Thank you for the opportunity to join your forum! Have been collecting (and learning about!) military surplus rifles for 10-12 years now, have interests in all vintage and collectible long arms, especially Enfields, Mausers and as of late, M-1 carbines. Have done minor repairs/restorations on some, find history of pre-WW2 rifles fascinating. Hope to share information with others and learn a bit from some of the amazing expertise that I see on this site!

Hi All,
"New" old guy here, from SETX. Just got a 6.9m Inland M1 Carbine and am looking forward to learning all I can about it. I tend to gravitate towards semi-auto long guns, having a pair of RRA's (AR10 and AR15), a Marlin Camp 45, Ruger 10/22, and a Molot Vepr 12 gauge.
