Not really new here - I've been lurking around for years but I think I'm finally ready to commit!

Hello, Im a NEW guy here, i collect all kinds of military. My main focus now is British/Canadian.

I've been a gun enthusiast for 25 years and have recently acquired an interest of WWII small arms. My father was a US army WWII vet in the European theater (he carried the M1 Garande) and the stories he told me were the stuff movies are made of. Maybe cause I'm getting older myself, I feel the need to retrace his steps a little when out on a range day. (I used to own an M1A1, kick myself for selling it!) My guns are primarily modern bred polymer/steel thingamabobs crowding every virtual and physical gun display case around the country. So, I started out by buying a Mosin Nagant 91/30 and a Yugo M48A Mauser variant (can't find a reasonable Kar 98). The Mosin (1942) is in excellent condition, head space is spec, bluing 100%, refinished the stock, firing pin protrusion is right on, she's ready to go, complete with cleaning kit, clip pouches and bayonet (Classic firearms). The Yugo (PW Arms) on the otherhand ... I refinished the furniture, soaked (mineral spirits) and cleaned it thoroughly, (looks beautiful) but did not notice that the firing pin tip was severed off until today while out shooting (bought it at Big 5). I have scoured the inet and cannot find a firing pin, does anyone know where to find one, or is there a compatible pin out there for the M48A? Thanks from Patton's Alumni!

Or is that obsession? I have a 68 GS (350) I am slowly restoring and I have owned 3 before that.
I had not been much of a Garand enthusiast...until I shot one. Currently I am building two from parts. One will be a mixmaster and the other will be mostly period correct.
While looking for Garand parts I stumbled upon some 1903a3 receivers and now I have a 1903a3 project.
Noticing that M1 carbines were getting scarce, I have started buying USGI parts to build one. The receiver will be an FA since I cannot swing $550+ for a receiver. :(
Lastly, today I ordered an AR15 lower as prices are super low, but I doubt they will stay that way. Decided to be smart for once and buy parts to build one at a good time.
Then there are those Romy G parts kits I have yet to build...
It seems a drug habit would be cheaper than my two hobbies. :surrender:

This is a great site and I learned quite bit before signing up so thank you. I will do my best to make positive contributions.

Morning All...

Recently obtained a '44 Long Branch #4 Mk1*, my first LE. Looking to immerse myself in the detailitis of the Enfield and accuracy of my rifle, in particular. So far the worst part about it is the loose nut behind the trigger. :-)

All the boring data of my humble existance is recorded on my profile.

I collect primarily .32 ACP - 7.65mm pistols of the Art Deco period. This includes some military items and a good deal of commercial offerings. I also hope to obtain a few more infantry rifles of the First World War.

My collection includes a number of "modern, shootable" arms both long and hand gun. I reload for most of them to some degree or other.

I found this place by a web search for loading information regarding the .303 British cartridge and 215 grain bullets. Go figure.

Hello everyone.
Here I am now in this community.
I have interest in all weapons from WWI with the exceptions of M14 and FAL's.
Honestly I enter in a new community when I buy a specific weapon and find IMO a good infos source.....otherwise I have not the time to post in the whole galaxy of the militay forums.
In fact I am a newbie...not an expert at all.......I find real experts here.
The fact is.....I purchased a bunch of enfield yesterday and I found plenty of infos here before the deal.
The stuff is:
No 4 Mk1* - 1943, formerly on duty with Italian Navy
No 7 Mk1 trainer - 1943
No 4 mk1 (T) - 1943 (45) this last is in fact a restoration project as I do not have the money for a good one and will be my next Threads subject.

New to this site I am doing research on an inheritance and after reading some of the posts I determined that the collectors here have a lot of knowledge that I hope I can tap into. I live in northern New England have been into shooting and hunting some 50 odd years since I was 10 years old. Shot postal league for 4 years in high school got into silhouette for a few years and have always enjoyed plinking. Hobbies besides guns include brook, lake and ice fishing, trapping and wrenching on a classic here and there besides maintenance on all my vehicles over the road and off.

WWII service rifle collector and professional 19th century historian and member of the international gunboards forums saying hi. I don't collect British arms--at least yet--nor Canadian, but certainly friends of mine do. :slap:
