Nick, Parts for export under the value of $100 are "NLR" or no license required. They still have to be shipped by a registered exporter and lodged with the AES system with CBP/Census which usually costs around $25. If they're charging more than that, it's a bit extreme. Brian

Doing it this way, you could in fact use any cheap, plastic readily available (and probably better than the standard H&K insert.....) off the shelf magazine. Just my take on things - and being a cheapskate!
Cheap is always best !! Have brought one of the mags to work to replace the lug that fits up up against the stop face (is this correct?) someone has ground and filed it down to fit something? while I,m doing this will take it apart and have a look at the best option.Quote:

Duke, if you have an Original .22" Adapted 7.62mm Mag. I would have thought it EASY, to drift out the two transverse Retaining pins. Copy EXACTLY the adaptor insert block, Than just about any long .22" Pistol mag would be suitable for selection.
The angle of feed in theory should be the same as the H&K version originaly. ALL you would have to do is, fit the mag up into the insert. Mark it's position on the FRONT of the mag. The make a 'Tab' for the front bent to an 'L' shape & drill a hole.
The TAB can either be brazed on, or Spot welded to the .22" Mag
Allen headed retainging screw through the tab into the underside of the adaptor block. Hey Presto! One Mag to fit your fullbore L1A1! (Or as many as you want to make!)
I wouldnt worry about the 7.62mm Mags, there are HUNDEREDS of them floating about on the Militaria Collectors market here in the UK. Source them here & there piecemeal.
Tankhunter, that was the Plan of attack regarding the mag, I,ve got to strip it to fit and braze the part someone has gone mad with a dremel on, and while I,m at it have a look inside and see what I come up with.Quote:
