The angle of feed in theory should be the same as the H&K version originaly. ALL you would have to do is, fit the mag up into the insert. Mark it's position on the FRONT of the mag. The make a 'Tab' for the front bent to an 'L' shape & drill a hole.
The TAB can either be brazed on, or Spot welded to the .22" Mag
Allen headed retainging screw through the tab into the underside of the adaptor block. Hey Presto! One Mag to fit your fullbore L1A1! (Or as many as you want to make!)
I wouldnt worry about the 7.62mm Mags, there are HUNDEREDS of them floating about on the Militaria Collectors market here in the UK. Source them here & there piecemeal.
