the base is slotted and the rings bases are riveted into it. cap screws (2 each side) from the bottom pull the ring caps down.
They are definitely modelled on the M40A1 Unertl rings and base.
Great response. I have the Unertl C3a1 mount.....just wanting to see how it looks mounted. Surprised at amount of overhang on the ejection port. Ron(Canada)
Cold Zero,
The M87 you have, serial Number 02094C was released on the 22/10/1987 in .243, Norma 100gn Ammo with a 26.2mm group @100yards. There was no scope fitted to the rifle and the End User was Thames Valley Police

A Little off topic but still Parker Hale, a customer of mine has a PH GP24 rifle serial No 001, any one got any thoughts of its value, im stumped as there is no previous bench mark
I was stationed in Germany with the US Army back in the late 80's when I purchased my M-85, serial number 00224F. I was told it was ordered straight from Parker Hale and sent to the gun club on my post. I am curious to see what information you show for this rifle.
Thank you very much for all the research and information you all have provided on these rifles. I love it and its my baby.
Thanks
Dan
Dan,
Absolutely correct. M85 Serial Number 00224F was despatched via USAF Ramsdein, Germany to an U.S Army address in Germany thereafter. Built and finished on the 9th December 1987 by Eddie Taff at Parker Hale.
It was sent in a Desert Camouflaged stock and was shooting a 17.5mm group at 100 yards.
No mention of telescope with the order, so one assumes you had your own.
Hope this confirms what you thought
Gil;)
Thank you. Interesting, because it came with the woodland camo stock.
I truely appreciate all the info that you pass on to us. Thank you!
Dan
Dan,
Did you, personally, actually order it or did you acquire it from someone else in Germany?
If you did, you could contact the original buyer, I do have notes besides some weapons that the buyers also purchased alternative furniture too, but this is not marked against this particualr weapon.....only Desert Camo. He may still have the Green in his cupboard gathering dust!!
Hope that helps
Gil
I am the original buyer of the rifle. It was purchased through our "Rod and Gun" club on post. They informed me that it would be a new process for them to order straight from Parker Hale and it may take some time to get it. I was just fine with waiting and it eventually arrived.
I know the stock is original, as it has the serial number written in the forgrip of the stock.
Dan
Oh well the entry must have been entered into the register wrong.......no worries, I take it everything else recorded is correct?
Great piece of sniper rifle history and doing nothing but going up in price!!
