Sorry about questioning the train-spotting sanity of oil bottle collecting chaps............ Just learned of someone who collects........ Nope....., I can't believe it myself either....... Jerrycans! I mean...., where and how the xxxx do you keep 5 Jerrycans, let alone 84 of them! Mind boggling
Hmmm,..............jerry cans?
Slightly more interesting than the bloke who was once interviewed on the BBC who collected different types of brown paper!
I did once meet someone who collected irons (for ironing clothes) and who exhibited them at shows and exhibitions; they had many different types and variations. If I remember correctly the fun stopped when the collector or their partner hurt their back while moving them to or from an exhibition due to the sheer weight of them.
The Collections out there are as diverse as people are, my wife has a collection of 1:18 scale cars, a small collection of kitchen scales & a collection of Jiffy shakers & between us we have 378 years of Automobile history.
I started my oil bottle collection as i wanted one for each of my rifles along with a pull-though, sling & bayonet.
1929 Nash my oldest & most recently acquired (sorry Peter, swapped my AH Sprite for it)
