Hello,
New member a few weeks back, thought I would introduce myself. Retired military and have been an avid gun nut all my life who recently started collecting US milsurp rifles. I have a Remington 1903A3, a Sprinfield M1 Garand and an Eddystone M1917. All have good barrels and are excellent shooters. Looking forward to uploading a few photos and interacting with the rest of you folks.
I am interested in all items of militaria. Have found this site most informative many thanks

I'm a newb as far as owning firearms, although I've been an enthusiast for a while. I had a Guns & Ammo subscription when I was 10… let's just say I wasn't really into comics.
I recently got around to getting my PAL and just bought my first rifle, an Enfield No4 Mk1*, so here I am going down the rabbit hole of Enfield information. Milsurps.com seems to be the best place for that!

Hello, I am a new member here. I have a number of Lee Enfields on hand. Most notably an L39A1 and a No4 Mk1 (T)(Thai?).
The L39A1 is from 1972 SN UE.72.A1088. It has a bubble level on the front sight. It is marked 'RARDE' in grey italic paint of the left side of the buttstock. The buttstock and forend are beech with the standard L-E grip (and not the C grip). The rear sight is the AJP TZ 4/47. it has the standard No4 303 magazine.
The No4 Mk1 (T) appears to be one of the guns reworked by Parker Hale for the Thai Army after WWII. It bears commercial proofs and the British property marks have been removed from the right side of the socket and the left side of the receiver. The forestock has been shortened to Thai jungle configuration with a Parker Hale swivel added on the forend. It is marked TR and the buttstock has the H&H stamp. The rear sight is the milled /2 version without the bolt removal field mod. The right side of the receiver ring is marked 'ENGLAND'. It has what appears to be a small Thai "sunflower" property mark (like those on US Military Assistance Thai 1903s but smaller) behind the extractor screw.
I also have a BSA Deluxe .303 sporter that I believe was brought in by Interarms pre-GCA as it not import marked. It has the EAW profile No4 Mk1 receiver. It has the TO1 scope mount as installed by Parker Hale with an L shaped piece of steel in place of the receiver bridge and connected to the receiver by a longer extractor screw. This rifle has the deluxe stock with fancy wood angled foreend tip and grip cap with white line spacers and the red Parker Hale marked recoil pad.
Any help or new information would be appreciated. I understand that there are true experts here and some of the information that I have gathered elsewhere may be innaccurate.

Been reading this site for some time now and finally decided to register. I've been impressed with the quality of posts... you all know what I mean.
I fell in love with a sporterized No. 1 Mk. 3* Lee Enfield that I was given to me when my grandfather (who took a bullet in Belgium during WW II) passed away. Since that time I have suffered the sickness of all things Enfield and have collected a few 'originals' as time, budget, and my wife;) have allowed (she is a good woman... thus far she has TOLD me to buy a motorcycle and a few rifles... she's a keeper).
My most recent acquisition has been a No. 2 Mk 4* 22LR that is currently in the mail... I can't wait to get that package (I'm hoping to source the correct Cooey sight, hint, hint).
My current project is a Faz FTR'd (49) No. 4 Mk 1* restoration. I'm learning a bunch in the process.
I look forward to learning, sharing and being a member in this community.

I have a 1903 Springfield built by Remington in 1943. I understand that there weren't enough Garands to issue to all infantrymen at the beginning of WWII, but why were they still manufacturing '03s so late in the war?
Hi everybody, I'm new to this sight and looking for some info on a 1915 bsa no1 mk3 that was given to my father as collateral for a loan 40 something years ago, needless to say the debt wasn't repaid. My dad had no need for a gun in the city so it was given to my uncle in northern Alberta who used it for many seasons of moose hunting. I recently asked if if he still had it and if he didn't use it if I could have it so now it is in my collection. I vaguely remember shooting it when I was about 8, my dad told me they had to prop me up against the barn so the recoil didn't knock me over. Anyway.. from lots of reading here it seems that this is where the experts are, if anybody can tell me more about this rifle and some of the markings it would be appreciated, I'm thinking of restoring it to military configuration. I, surprisingly have become a firearms collector. I suppose that is the way of many firearm enthusiast. Had no idea I was becoming one, but after having more firearms then one can practically use, then the name one should consider is< "collector".
I appreciate the appearance of a firearm to it's origin. It conjures up images of the time it was produced, and has a telling story.
My knowledge is limited, mostly to what the internet has to offer.
I have been interested in shooting and collecting since I got my first pellet rifle in third grade for good grades.
I was in the Army from 67 to 70, Currently have a C&R lic, and need a bigger safe.
Currently have an interest in an unusual Enfield that has what appears to be a pendulum just behind the barrel band. Anyone have a nice long interesting story for this one?
I will try and attach photos.
Also interested in purchasing a T37 flash suppressor for my M1D, with papers, which appears to have not been issued, and was purchased with all of its accessories in military packaging except for the Flash suppressor. I have the package, but not the correct suppressor for it's package. Have a M2 flash suppressor. Need the T37. You got one, or lead on one?

I have a nice VZ 24 with a 1" brass disc in the butt stock. At 12 o'clock it's stamped 2 ZN, at 6 o'clock it's stamped 364. Anyone know what this indicates?
I've also been told the sling is original. What would verify this?
On left side of receiver is stamped F, then maybe a griffin image, then 26, below it are 8517E 1 - any clues on these stamps?

Hello every one I'm new to the thread and want to introduce myself. I live in north west Texas near the RED River. It gets almost as hot as the middle east in the summer and almost as cold as Canada in the winter. It's a hell of a place but its where I was born and raised. I've been away to many different places but ended back here as I retired. I'm also a disabled boots on the ground Vietnam veteran,!st Id and 1st Calv. Been in Germany also ,3rd ID.
I'm interested in all the old milsurp guns as well as new stuff. I'm a big supporter of the German Shepherd, Collies, and Belgium herding dogs.
Any way that's me and glad to be here.

Hello, I currently own a Savage Enfield No. 4 Mk1*, and a Lithgow Enfield No.1 Mk3 rifle. I am restoring the Lithgow from sporter to near original. My new stock has a slot in the forend for part I have not been able to identify. Attached is a picture of the part. Can someone please tell me what it is???😕 Thanks.Attachment 67622

Shoot SMLE's, No 4s and Mosin Nagant 91/30 1943 Sniper regularly here in France. Collected and traded in Militaria 1900 -1945 for many years.

HI guys - been collecting what ever I could since that first .303 SMLE from Sears Roebuck - across the counter after telephone order, for $9.95 in about 1958. Ended up seeking guns from every major power in WW2, which I THINK I now have, at least in the form of "Project" guns to be restored. Added bayonets as well. So let's talk.
And... I am now confused a bit - thought I already answered the new guy signup, and even posted a few questions in various threads, but system says I am virgin-new. Is there another forum I'm confusing with this? :confused:

I go by Narrlee and 1 of my 3 sons is an Army Ranger and mechanical engineer(so he is great at taking things apart and getting them to work) and we have begun collecting some WWI and WWII rifles and pistols in the recent years. Kind of a neat father-son relationship builder and hobby.

Since I have been regaining interest in my military surplus firearm collection, my google searches for information have directed me here with increasing regularity, and now that I have exhausted my non-member thread views, it is as good of a time as any to sign up.
I have a small collection of military pattern rifles and handguns that I enjoy occasionally shooting. Since I shoot everything I own, I try not to obtain or ruin unfired or otherwise unique collectables. I generally have an interest in Lee-Enfields but do have some other military surplus examples. I still maintain my practical knowledge from my soldiering days with of course is pidgeonholed to modern military firearms. During my last year with the PPCLI I did assist with catalogue and identification of the Regimental Museum's firearms collection, which was over 1500 firearms, and was quite a rewarding experience.
Hopefully I might be able to add some meaningful content here from time to time, but mainly I will be learning what I can to help fill in the gaps in my own knowledge not found in books and publications.

Happy New Year to all and thank you for welcoming me to this website. My teenage son and I are avid WW2 history buffs and recently began acquiring battle rifles from US, UK and Germany in the ETO. We recently bought an Inland M1 Carbine with correct barrel date 1/44 and transitional updates for the serial number. This rifle has a number "3" on the left side and below the rear sight aperture - where the refurbishing armorer mark would go. Does anyone know what the "3" represents in this case?

New here, Looking for 6.5x55 Swedish brass. Especially IGMAN. It's the stuff that is a pain in the *** to reload. You will know it when your decapping pin breaks multiple times as you scratch your head. Flash hole is too small and has to be drilled out and the primer pocket is also too small to accept new primers. If you have this, I can convert it and bring it back to life for reloading. Will buy on the cheap. Thank you

Having just joined, a little history: I collect pre-war sporting Rifles sporting calibres and
pre-war civilian Telescopic sights but I have 2 WW1 sniper scopes one A5 and one Aldis Brothers and one civilian PPCo.
The next project is MK 111 Marching Compass, but having read quite deep on the subject Radium 226 is no fun but dangerous.
I will put out a post when I have a MK 111 to ask for some help and advive.

Hello all,
Love collecting surplus rifles, my gateway rifle was a SKS that I still have. My collection mostly consist of WW2 and earlier firearms and my current project is a Bren Mk2 kit that I am a little over halfway completed.
My favorite surplus rifle has to be the M1 garand and I just recently hit a milestone in that collection buy acquiring all 4 manufactures.
This forum looks to be a great resource that I can hopefully contribute to in the future.

Hello Everyone ! Been a member for a while now but never introduced myself. I started collecting US Military guns about 6 or 7 years ago. I currently have 4 M1 Garands,3 1917 Enfields, 4 1903A3 Springfields, and 1 Inland M1 Carbine. This gun buying disease....they say there s no cure for it ! I just love those old guns! My last 1917 I found in a pawn shop with a sporter stock on it....I passed over it the first time thinking it was Bubbarized. But I looked it over and it was a 4 digit serial # Winchester and it only needed a Military stock to put it back into shape....everything else was untouched and they only wanted $350 for it . Most of my friends are into the plastic guns and AR15 style guns...but to borrow a quote from someone else...You boys can have your 22s...I'll keep my 06s !

I am Michael from Germany. As some of you will know in Germany it is not very easy to possessing firearms. You must be licensed sport shooter (which mean e.g. "official" training min. 12 times a year) and even then the number of semiautomatic guns you can own are very restricted or licensed collector. I am sport shooter and collector of airguns and .22lr-rimfire-rifles with military design. This is an interesting theme for a collection, but in Germany difficult because until 2003 every military looking rifle was banned and this banning is still active for rimfire-rifles used by sport shooters - and extremely silliy regulation and a side-effect of a regulation which should bann AK-rifles from sport shooting. So the number of rimfire-rifles with military design available in Germany is very, very low and importing from foreign countries, esp. overseas, is extremely difficult.

I am looking for drawings for a bren barrel.
I am making some 7.62 bren barrels and a print for the threads would be helpful as well as the indexing for for the interrupted threads.
I am not sure how to time the thread lead to the interrupted threads
I have made test parts with the threads that thread onto the barrel nut. The threads appear to be 7 mm square threads. At least 7 mm thread lead fits the barrel nuts.
I am not sure of the gas port sizes for .7.62 nato.
I made some barrel blanks this week for this project.

I've been shooting for about 30 years, with early instruction from my grandparents who were DCRA shooters, followed by Army Cadets where I got into shooting Lee Enfields, the FNC1A1 and Anschutz for biathalon. A lifelong interest ensued, with dabbling in the Enfield, Snider, MH, Long-Lee and Lee Enfield chronology.

Hi everyone, new to collecting, just started in November 2015. Since then I've added a Ross M1905 MK2, Springfield Model 1898, 1970 Yugoslavian SKS and 1954 Mosin Nagant M44.
I have a collection of WWII guns that I have collected over many years. I am attempting to reply to a thread by a collector Posted back in 2013 who had an Inland M1 carbine with serial # XC 43. I can give him a little information on it. I have Carbine serial # XC 42 which I obtained back around 1968 from a collector older friend who had retired from GM. Upon his retirement his Boss to whom the gun had been presented took it off the wall and presented it to him saying " You've always admired this little gun and now I want you to have it to remember us by."
Just thought that I'd like to pass this on if he still has his XC 43 carbine. I have it's mate. Thanks

Hi everyone! I've been a shooter for about 5 years but recently got back into it big time, and have started to expand my collection and learn more. In particular I've found I have a real passion for vintage military rifles which I think makes this the perfect site for me. My first rifle was my grandfather's Mauser G29/40 (98k) I inherited, and after replacing the cut original down stock with a roughly period correct WWII era stock, returned it at least partially to it's former glory. In the last couple months I've really gotten into it though, adding a Chinese Type 53, a Yugo 59/66A1 SKS, Inland M1 Carbine, and now a Type 99 Arisaka that is in a similar state to my Mauser. I hope to enjoy learning more on this forum!

Hi all, have been looking over milsurps.com for some time and decided to join as a member. I've enjoyed surplus arms since I got my first Japanese Type 99 at about 9 years old, (I'm 60 now). I've been partial to the Lee Enfield, Mosin's, with the occasional Mauser thrown in. Still like the Japanese rifles, and won't turn down any surplus arm that crosses my path! My name is Claude VILLENEUVE and I am taking this opportunity to introduce myself. I am still a serving officer in the Canadian Forces with three operational deployments.
As a military parachutist I have a vested interest in WW2 British/Canadian Airborne Forces (Parachute and Glider). I take every opportunity to talk about the proud but ephemeral 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion and to show my gear to young Canadian Army paratroopers and general public on occasions such as Remembrance Day, Canada Day and obviously D-Day ceremonies. The gear goes from original 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion officer hat badge to rations and underwear to parachute and weapons. Weapons include grenades, STEN MkV (rebuilt), .303 Lee-Enfield No4 MkI* (Inglis 1942) and BREN MkII (Inglis 1943). Collection includes Airborne Sleeping Bag and Wireless Set No 38 Mk2*. However; I am always looking to expend the collection! When possible, I am trying to exchange reproductions for originals. So if you have stuff collecting dust and want to please the wife don’t hesitate to drop me an email!
While I am definitively interested by the material culture I am also interested by everything associated with WW2 British/Canadian Airborne Forces such as tactic, parachute training, airborne development, pathfinders, weaponry and personal history and…stories!
Forums like Military Surplus Collectors Forums are great place to share and enhance knowledge while exchanging with avid collectors who often know more than museums staff!

Hello, my name is Brian and I live in New Hampshire. My main interests are WWII history and American Musclecars. I have three boys in their teenage years who enjoy my interests also, it is a great way to spend time with them and to also share history.
My interests are; US martial Arms, antique restoration and vintage match/ Service Rifle cat.
