Hello fellow collectors I have been collecting C&R stuff since around 1994 and have gone a little
wild as far as buying various rifle and pistols and now have to many. I had a C&R FFL but dropped it some years ago. I have never (with a few exceptions) collected excellent or very good examples for my collection, I preferred to buy examples that needed to "cleaned up" and I am still working on many of them. I don't post much on the various boards I belong to preferring to read and gather info that interests me. I don't know why I never found this board but in the short time I have checked it out it seems like a very good information source with many well informed users.

1st post here.
I joined because I have recently been bitten by the Enfield bug and a lot of the reading seems to be here. I have mostly Russian milsurps (SVT's, 91/30 and sniper, sks, M44 ect) but I have now bought some Enfields (1917 MKII, 1942 MKIII, some Long Branch No4 MK1 rifles and a 1955 UF series MK2 which is new).
I hope to learn a lot more about these rifles.
The only regret I have is not getting into Enfields 20 years ago.

Hello all. New to the forum but not to milsurps, I've been messing around with them since the early 2000's and while I enjoy shooting them and hand loading for them I really enjoy researching their history the most. I currently have a Ludwig-Loewe 1891 Argentine with an intact crest in the K serial # block which I read somewhere was 1894 production all matching except the bolt but the stock has been refinished and some of the parts such as the magazine, barrel bands, trigger guard, and bolt stop have been polished. I originally thought this was done by a previous owner but have read that their is a theory that these were parade rifles. Either way I bought it more as a shooter than a collectors piece. I also have one of the M95 Steyr Stutzens that came in to the country a few years ago with a 1917 acceptance stamp that's not overstruck, I've determined that this one started life as a carbine length rifle because the front sight base is integral with the barrel but it has definately been upgraded to the 95/30 pattern. Nothing matches but the barrel/receiver but that seems common on these. Again I bought it as a shooter. The other day I picked up a total mismatch 1895 Loewe Chilean Short rifle for cheap because while kind of rough it has a perfect bore and I wanted to play with a 7mm. I had it all apart to clean but didn't even notice of the barrel was serial #'ed. The receiver and bolt while mismatched are both in the A serial # block so I supposed there's a good chance it's an 1895 manufacture rifle. No bluing above the stock line but good blue and no pitting below, the stock isn't really that bad for a 122 year old rifle though the crest is starting to fade a bit but doesn't appear ground at all. Neither the Chilean or Argentine are import marked. I'll be sticking around and learning what I can and maybe picking up some more neat rifles and pistols along the way.

I own 3 C&R rifles. At least I think they are C&R's. I own a Mosin-Nagant M91/30. I own a 1893 Spanish 7MM Mauser. I own a Samco/Yugo 24/47 8 MM Mauser. I have NOT fired any of them yet. My first (selfish) concern is to all of you to answer the following question, are there Owner's manuals for either Mauser out in the Public Domain? I purchased a Manual for the Mosin @Amazon.

Hello, just came across this forum from a suggestion from a member, looks like it will be a great resource.

Good morning one and all, Just introducing myself to the group. Located in Ottawa Canada and have been using this great site to get some info on my new purchase that came yesterday. Managed to pick up a 1943 Long Branch No.4 Mk1*. The serial number however did not fall within the expected range according to info I have read. Serial No. 88L0103 on the action and same on the bolt. Could the number be that far off from the numbers listed in Charles Stratton book?

Hey Everyone! New to this forum, but I have checked on it 1 or 2 times recently and decided I'd join. I'm another guy interested in military surplus. I just recently bought my first firearm and decided on a Mosin Nagant 91/30. I love history and thought this would be a good rifle to start with because of its low price, history, and it seems to be a very simple rifle. I've shot it a few times now and I have to say I'm in love with it. Anyway, I'm excited to be here, cant wait to learn more, and I'm sure I will be adding more to make a collection haha.
