Hey all, from USA Maryland here. Browse from time to time for nick nacks :)
Afternoon all
New to the forum and just wanted to say hi!
I hope someone can point me in the right direction where to post as I have just bought another 22lr SMLE, my reason for buying is because it is scoped. I have not seen a scoped 22 SMLE and would therefore love some of your valuable knowledge. I have some pics to put up as soon as I know I'm in the right part of the forum.
Thanks
Hi all. thanks for the great site and wealth of information!
So, I started prepping what I have always assumed to be a post war sporter Lee Enfield No.4 MK1. Due to the apparent lack of marking or military stock....
But it has turned into more of an excavation, and I am hopping to get some feedback from the Enfield guys! I will do a more formal post shortly.
New here wanted to say hello.
Hello good people, I have been looking on this excellent forum and have read lots of interesting things. I presently have a 1916 Enfield No 1 Mk III* which I have rebuilt according to the information provided in Roger Wadham's book and please to say that so far with handloads of Hornady 174 FMJ with 2206H powder it's shooting well. My other Milsurp is a Carcano Fucile Corto from 1941. When purchased, this rifle was in poor condition and I have put work into getting it shooting better but it has a way to go yet. Handloads with Hornady's 0.267" projectiles helped but one serious horror emerged when I stripped the rifle and examined the recoil lug block: it sits at a slight angle to the barrel axis so recoil contact is small and off to one side. So, at the moment I am in the middle of fixing this without recourse to glass bedding because here in Australia rifles in the "as issued" class cannot be bedded so I have to fix the alignment problem somehow. Wish me luck good people and although I have some plans, if any of you have faced this dilemma before i would be grateful if you could tell me how you fixed it.
i got a question regarding purchasing parts for a Type 99 Arisaka rifle. It was passed down to me from my grandfather and i'd like to get it back to working order, I have the stock and barrel for it and would like to find a good company to get the parts needed for the rapair.
Hello good people, I have been learning form this forum for a little while now. I have a 1916 SMLE which has been rebuilt twice in Australia (Lithgow) and is now shooting well, I also have a Carcano Fucile Corto from 1941 which I have been working on to make shoot better.
I am in Australia.
Tim
Hi all, My primary interests are quality sporting arms, however, from time to time I find myself requiring a little research help with military arms of the past. Thanks for this quality web site, made possible by quality contributors!
:D I thought I'd check out a new web site ( to me ) and make my self known, I'm on Gunboards a lot and hope to do the same here and maybe buy and sell some guy stuff..
SO HERE I AM … and HI to everybody....
Just a retired guy from northern Illinois who likes military firearms and antique tools. I was lucky and married a girl who is fine with firearms. always open for a conversation on guns or tools so feel free to email or pm.
Hi
Thank you for adding me to your site. I am not a weapons collector, but instead a amateur historian or that might be better said, one without any formal qualifications.
What has drawn me to this site is an interest in the 'Launcher Rifle Grenade L1A2' as suited to the L1A1 7.62 Self Loading Rifle - it's use in the Australian Army and in addition to that the use of Rifle Grenades, launched from the M16, by US forces during the Vietnam War.
I am an avid milsurp guy.Mostly into Enfield"s.
Lots of good info on this site.
I'm a new member and love reading the forums. I just recently obtained a RIA Model 1903, and look forward to sharing pics and obtaining information about my pre WWI rifle.
Greetings everyone, I have just joined and thanks for having me.
Whilst my main interest is handguns, I do have a couple of milsurps rifles - 1 x 1944 DOT K98, all matching, all original and in excellent condition; and this has just been joined by a lovely 1918 Lee Enfield No 1 Mk3 which was FTR in 1951.
On it;'s way tome now is a another Lee Enfield No 4 MK1 which was FTR in 1953 and un-usedAttachment 95771Attachment 95772 since.
And I am on the cusp of purchasing an all original, un-issued No4 Mk1 (T)
looking for info on mitchell ak22
Greeting to fellow collectors smitten by having pieces of history of military's in action in close contact with one another. I recently purchased a Sterling Wiselite 9mm carbine and am looking at the 7.62 x 25 pistol version. I am wanting to see what it take to convert it to 9mm.
So that will be my first endeavor. I have several old military arms populating my safe and am building an UZI from a McKay kit.
Regards, Bob
Hi I am an advect Enfield collected with a special interest in WWI&WWII British and Canadian sniper rifles.
Hi everyone!
I came across this site while looking up info on my BRENs. I'm 48, retired Military and currently working as an industrial mechanic for the largest agriculture equipment producer. Hint "green and yellow"
I've become a huge fan of old Mil weapons , especially WW2 stuff, and own a few guns from that era. I have acquired most of my guns by building parts kits. 2 Builds I currently have going is a ZB vz 37 and a MK3 Bren. Been into building kits for about 8 years now with no stopping in sight.
Looking forward you getting to know the people here.
Good day to fellow enthusiasts
Taken the plunge into forum communication!

New to the group and I am nearing completion of restoring my Enfield No. 4 Mk I I have been scrounging parts for a few years and have all but need to find a few replacement parts as some are either worn, cracked, or out of spec. I hope I can find parts, info, and maybe friends on here.
Hello all
I'm here trying to figure out the sporterized 1903 mk1 I inherited from my grandfather.
Thanks for letting me join the group. I've been shooting military rifles since I was 8 years old...which is quite a while, now. Currently I own and compete with a G-11 Schmidt-Rubin that I have owned since 1964, ( it's 100 years old this year) that makes 1 hole groups @ 100 yards, A '43 Saginaw M-1 Carbine which I have completely redone (shoots 2moa @ 100 yds), and a recently acquired 1980 build Yugoslavian PAP 59/66 A-1 which had been assigned to the Zagreb #2 police station (still had their property tag on the stock), and most likely had not been used. It was just like a new rifle, and needed about 350 rounds of break in...it's shooting cloverleafs at 100 yards, now. I'm well experienced with Militaries, but there is always more to learn. I used to own a REALLY nice SVT-40, Tula Build, I believe. I sold it during the Carter admin. because I needed the money, now I am trying to put together funds to get another one. Same issue with my SMLE Mk1 No 5 Jungle Carbine...
New to forum. Have a few surplus rifles and enjoy them and their history.

Looks like a great site to get educated.
I have been collecting all things military for close to 48 years. I recently retired last November and have free time to research some things I haven't had time before.

Hi everyone. I am the daughter of a WW2 soldier and have inherited his Arisaka 99 rifle for which I researching it's origins. Mine is a 4th series from Izawa Jyoko arsenal, serial No. 5397. From information I have found online it is identified as an early 1939 model but the Izawa Jyoko arsenal is reported to only have started production in 1940. If there are any experts on Arisaka rifles, I would very much appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks so much. Jan
Hey everyone!
I'm not new to the forum but haven't posted anything to date; almost anything I've been looking for, including things I didn't even know I was looking for, has already been answered or posted in some respect so I've just been lurking in that time.
The amount of knowledge contained in this site and forum is staggering; thanks to everyone who's contributed to make it that way.

Hello Fellow Collectors! I think I may have been part of this group once. The last few years have been pretty busy, and a lot of my fun things have gone wanting. Sitting here, with lousy weather outside, it occurred to me I should look at some of the C&R web sites. Here I am.
Greetings Kevin here I have been collecting milsurps since 1978. Some of my collection: 1918 Winchester of 1917, two Gew 88 one is a Steyr and a Loewe. A mint 03A3 Remington. A 1913 1911.

Hello, I am an Italian shooter. I am 75 and I have 4 Enfield trainers: 1 Martini Enfield, 1 Lee Metford, 1 Lee Enfield Mk 3 and 1 Lee Enfield Mk 7. I do not shoot them very often because I’m mostly shooting muzzle loaders. Anyway I am keen in trying to renew the Metford which is missing some parts and the stock has to be refurbish. This is the reason why I am visiting Enfield Forums. Maybe I will ask some questions and I hope you will help me. Thanks and regards to everybody.
Marco
Hi to everyone, used to use the 303 for drill purposes all those many years ago in Royal Canadian Air Cadets (around 1961 :move eek:), have finally obtained one for shooting purposes and am now just checking it out for accuracy. Glad to be here.

Hi everyone
I'm hoping to get some info on a Lee Enfield rifle I picked up years ago. At first I wanted to use it for hunting but now the history of the firearm is intriguing me. I hope to get some help with it and have been enjoying the articles I have found on this site.
Stay awesome,
Trevor
Long time occasional reader of milsurps. Mainly into sporting collectables but also some military bits and bobs. I shoot a WW1 SMLE when time allows! Greetings all, John.
I have a Isophore 2a1, 1965. But somene put a plastic stock on it, Does anyone know where I can find a original wood stock for mine, I can purchase to make it more original. I really enjoy shooting this rifle, but feel it would feel better to shoot it with real wood stocks.
I joined this forum some time back when I was in California but when I moved to North Dakota kind of lost my way.
I do have a few mil surplus rifles, haven't fired any in awhile but setting up a place to shoot on my property and redoing an old building as a shop for reloading and a place to work on my guns.
Winter will slow me down a bit, don't have heat in shop yet and it has been cold this last week.
New to site.
Hi everyone,
Glad to be a member of your community.
Hi, Looking for wooden transit sniper case.
Hi, My name is Ron Turner. I have just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I retired 4 years ago and have been working on guns as a hobby since retirement. I worked for several Gun Shops over the years part time. I was a Registered Nurse by profession. Recently I have decided to start manufacturing Aluminum Chassis for Mauser rifles. Hope to get some advice from some of you to help guide me through the process.
Thanks, Ron
Good afternoon from the PNW. I have a couple of old milsurps that I enjoy shooting. I'm more interested in any real information about my new Ross rifle. It seems to be a sporter in carbine length with military style front sight and missing rear sight. It IS a two lug bolt head, so not a 1910. It shoots great.

Hello folks , new member here.
Hello everyone! I've been stalking the Lee Enfield forum on here off and on for a few years, so I thought I'd go ahead and sign up. Active duty US Navy in Washington state. I've been collecting for about 18 years now.
Hello,
Just starting out into the world of collecting milsurp firearms and using forums. I have been shooting many different varieties over the past several years and now rebuilding a few sporterized rifles as well.
I am wishing to use this forum to aid in my rebuilding of different sporterized milsurps for use in competitions.
Hi, my name is Dan Haralson and I live in a small community in eastern Arizona. I have been an avid collector of german militaria for almost three decades but now find it time to part with some of my treasures. I am trying to disburse my dagger collection consisting of more than 20 rare to scarce high end daggers. Hello to everyone out there interested in this particular sub-category of german militaria.
Hello,
With this my first posting on this forum, and hope to learn about the M1 Carbine.

Just found this site, and expect to find info on U.S. Military rifles.
I've lurked for a while but finally officially joined. I've been a huge military history buff ever since I could read and always had interest in mil surplus rifles. Finally able to start acquiring rifles, well at least the more affordable ones, so I'm hoping for lots of guidance and patience with my questions.
Not looking to pick up safe queens just yet but some I can actually take to the range and enjoy on occasion. I've no idea where to start to find something safe to fire so any help is much appreciated. I've perused the online sites for surplus rifles but I'm not sure what are reasonable prices and what are safe rifles. Any direction is appreciated.
Thanks
I picked up an Ishapore a while ago and it's in need of some repair and figured this was a good forum to join up on. Hoping I can learn a lot and contribute to the community around here. So, Hello, world.
Hi Everyone,
Let me introduce myself. My name is John Dunlap and I've been collecting firearms for about 15 years. My passion for military surplus rifles took me down the path of creating a business around them where I buy and sell collector firearms. I am an FFL since 2013 and around that time I started D4 Guns (d4guns.com). It's been a fun and rewarding business so far. Perhaps some of you have bought firearms from me on Gunbroker (handle is d4guns). I have an inventory of about
I'm hoping to continue my learning/education of military surplus firearms and contribute to your forum. I hope that I am welcome.

Background:
I ran across this [hopefully attached] second page of an article from a 1909 issue of Engineering [located on the HathiTrust website] and wondered if anyone had ever seen an example of the Calichiopulo aperture front sight.
Apparently, Peddie [a Canadian] and Antonio Calichiopulo [an Italian artillery officer] entered into some sort of collaboration and developed a sight system incorporating Peddie's rear sight and Calichiopulo's front sight; according to the info I found, these were tested by the British military, though not adopted.
Around 1911 Peddie obtained a GB patent and a few years later a US patent on an aperture front sight along the lines of the Calichiopulo sight, and Vickers Maxin got involved somehow. In about 1915 an aperture front sight was marketed by Marble's in the US as the V-M [Vickers-Maxim] sight and it enjoyed some early popularity but developed a reputation for fragility over time; this was due to the inclusion in the V-M of a 'Pope's Island Gold' insert included to present a brass-like face to the shooter for ready sight acquisition. In use the 'Gold', a cast jewelry metal not only proved brittle itself but required the outer steel tube to be too thin to resist damage.
The original Calichiopulo sight, being solid steel with no insert, appears to be quite robust.
I have found no further information on Calichiopulo nor his sight. Can anyone provide further?

Hi Everyone. I'm new to the sight. I recently purchased a 1942 Lee Enfield #4 mk1, I don't know much about the rifle accept that it is not correct when manufactured. I would like to bring it back to original. All the wood has been replaced. Also the front plastic or bakelite? sight is broken. I'm looking to purchase all the period correct parts to bring it back to its original state. Can anyone help? Cheers Jason
Hi to All,
I have been a collector of military rifles, carbines, and pistols for over thirty years. I used to concentrate on US Military firearms, but have branched out to other areas of interest over the years. I look forward to learning more about military weapon history from this site.
I use nworbekim as my username because there's so many Mike Brown's on the internet I can never get registered under my regular name.
I am in Southern Kentucky on a farm. I have a small collection of vintage military weapons. I've come to this forum seeking knowledge and advice. I'm looking forward to the experience. I generally read but rarely post.
I have some 30 years of gun repair experience on my own time, and have been an avid fan of lee enfields. Original or customized, it don't matter to me. To each his own.
hi everyone, I'm justin, a new member to this community. I mainly focus on restoring old firearms to their original configuration, so I figured this would be a good place to find any information on parts from like-minded individuals!
Hi all - I'm recently retired and living in New Brunswick, Canada. I'm originally from Ohio but have been in CAN for 25+ years. I've owned a 1951 'light refurb' SKS for about 5 years - bought at Canadian Tire Store for $160CDN.:D Now they are selling around here for ca. $400 if available. The supply is drying up fast for 'good' cond SKSs.:( Even Chinese are getting hard to find. I've personally done a sear 'polish' and sear-spring replacement and have a receiver mounted 3-9x Barska scope combo from Cabelas. The refurb is stock and magazine - All other numbers are matching.:) This is the only mil I have. The sling is from a laptop case:;) I have them on all of my guns.

Hey guy, new to this website. I've owned firearms for about a year now and i've been meaning to join as many forms as I can so here I am
Retired. Got a Enfield No4 MK 2 out of the safe, been there for 20 years, trying to figure it out. Shooting high, the front sights have me more confused than a turtle on the center line.
There is a dump truck full of information on this forum. Thanks,
This is a great web sight, I live in Albany Oregon and am very happy to be a new member. I have a small collection which includes a 1903 Springfield Mark 1, Remington 03A3, Colt 1911 A1 and a numbers matching 1941 German Lugar. The 1903 is my favorite military rifle mostly because my first bolt rifle was a Rock Island that I built in high school. I put it in a nice maple stock and was able to get the machine shop at my high school to cut and crown the barrel, alter the bolt for scope use and drill and tap the action for scope mounts. Things have changed since the early 1970's, today I would have been arrested for bring a rifle to school. Back then I was able to purchase guns from 2 teachers. It was a different time.

Hi, I am a long time collector of all milsurps, but lean toward mosins and sks's a bit more. Not new to forums in general, looking forward to learning more about this community.
Hello all... amazing forum! Have learned a lot already and hope to learn more.
Hi all - My name is Ted and I am pleased to be on this platform. I like to collect historical genuine military machine guns (non-functioning). Thanks Ted
Hi. I currently have an M1 Garand and an M1911-A1 in my collection, and have an interest in collecting other historical US Military small arms. I am also looking into the hobby of handloading ammunition for both of these guns. I haven't yet purchased any equipment other than the Lyman's Reloading Manual, which I'm currently reading. But I feel like it's only a matter of time (and funds) before I make the plunge. I'm also interested in the possibility of competitive shooting with the Garand. Anyway, I just wanted to jump on this forum to learn a few things from the experts. Thanks for having me.
