Hi guys,
New member here. I've just bought a No4(T) so came here looking for info on it.
Cheers

New guy here. I am actually an antique motorbiker that got interested in militaria though buying a 1941 Matchless G3L that did service in North Africa. Am interested in restoring and assembling appropriate kit including plans for a sten gun to accompany it.
Also interested in gunsmithing so military small arms are in interest.
Hi to all,
I am new to milsurps in general and recently took a deep interest in the LEC 1
carbines. I have picked up two recently and both have had the top wood , nose cap and barrel band removed and the forearm shortened and one has had the butt stock refigured .
My hopes are to restore these two to as original as possible. I have so far located and ordered top wood so now need nose caps , barrel bands , butt stocks and forearms.
Any help in locating these parts is greatly appreciated.
Good Morning all!,
Finally getting around to introducing myself. Have lurked for awhile. Been picking up shiny shooters that caught my eye for 30 years... Have had my C&R for about 15 years now, but not a serious collector. I pick up the variety based on ability to shoot them. I have odds and ends from CZ handguns (50, 52, 75,82) to an 03A3 and a N0 4 MK1. P38 and Nagant to SKS and Garand and others. Just a general mix that are fun and enjoyable.
I am the Range Master at a govt. facility in Texas and get to enjoy my hobby at work as well as home. Not a gunsmith, but pretty handy and tinker with my own shooters keeping them running.
Glad to be here, and look forward to learning and sharing.
Steve
Hello, My name is Gwyn.
I have just joined the forum and have an interest in Enfield rifles.
Hi, thanks for the add
Hello all. Interested in US military battle rifles - M16A1, M1A, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, 1941 Johnson, 1903 Springfield, etc.
I hope to help, learn, and improve knowledge about these cool old guns.
Greetings to all. My new member post will start out with a message of hope: I hope that, after interminable hours of searching the numerous websites dedicated to the Enfield rifle I've finally found the right one.
A little about me: I grew up in the deep south, on the banks of the Mississippi River. My introduction to firearms was guided by my father and began with BB guns and learning shooting in our backyard. My brother and I progressed from there to single shot, bolt-action, short/long/long rifle Mossbergs, single shot H&R's and my first semi-auto .22, a Winchester 190 given to me as a Christmas present in 1973. I still have it and it is as much fun to shoot now as it was at 17.
4 years in the Army with the 82d Airborne Division gave me a greater understanding of how a firearm becomes a weapon and instilled a higher level of respect for the instrument that, until that time, had not been much more than a regular and normal part of our life in the south.
Fast-forward to now. After many years of dormancy, my interest in firearms has been rekindled. It happened in an unexpected way and the instrument was an 1897 Lee Enfield No1 made by London Small Arms, modified in 1903 to No1* CLLE. The first time I held this beautifully made rifle I had no idea what any of that meant, no idea that the sporterized military stock and butt were one of the reasons this rifle had sat unmolested in the shop for so long. All I knew was that I held a piece of history and that I had to own this rifle. Sort-story-long, I do own this rifle. The finish is not remarkable, the military furniture has been altered but not to the point that it disguises the fact that this was once actually a military firearm. I do not want to restore it to its military guise, I want to keep it as it is, a functioning testimony to the skill and craftsmanship that brought it into this world 122 years ago. And, yes, it still shoots straight and true, putting the first 40 rounds down range about 2 weeks ago and wearing out a 12*14 steel plate at 100 yards.
With all that said the only thing I really want to know is what someone can tell me about this rifles lineage and history, through its modification from No 1, to CLLE to No 1*. once I'm able to nail down even a portion of that I'll be happy.
Thanks for having me as a member and reading through this wordy and lengthy narrative.

Dear all,
Having bought my (first) Lee Enfield No4 Mk2 just a few weeks ago, I am reporting into this forum.
It is the book of Roger Wadham that has brought this forum to my attention. Having browsed here, I can see that being a novice there is a lot to learn for me here.
Reason for buying a Lee Enfield is that one of my friends brought a LE to the Bisley shooting grounds in UK and allowed me to try it out. The bug got me immediately after experiencing what a well built and great performing rifle this is.
Biggest thing at this moment is understanding what rifle I have. I know it is a No4 Mk2, however I cannot decipher the other markings even after looking around here. I might just post a few photographs to see if I can get some help here.
Regards, Paul
I'm an old time C&R collector who enjoys the old milsurps. Nothing too fancy but the crustier and rustier the better. No all matching. I enjoy shooting and desporterizing them the best. One of my last acquisitions was a Columbian Madsen 47 that was missing the stock and had a broken extractor. I found an individual on e-bay who had some extractors made for the M47 that worked great. I've made a stock for it using a P17 stock as I've never seen a M47 stock for sale. Not sure what will be next as the supply of milsurps are drying up.
I am new to Milsurps. I collect WW 1&2 firearms and am interested in starting a branch of the Lee Enfield Rifle Association near where I live (George, Western Cape, South Africa).
I am having problems with improving the accuracy of my No 4 Mk 2. I do have a copy of Roger Wadham's book on 303 accuracy mods.
I reload and am using 174 gr spire point flat base bullets, but these have quite a short bearing surface when compared to the military rounds with the wood or aluminium tips.
I was wondering whether turned brass bullets might give me a better result.
Regards, Mackwag
Thank you for allowing me to be a member of this great Web Site.I have been collecting 30 years or more.I collect a little of everything, but I love the Old Winchesters, and K98 Mausers.

Hello all I'm Deadeye18 from chesterfield in the UK,I collect militaria and enjoy shooting when I'm not on dad duty.Just picked up an ex Italian navy no4 Enfield and joined here hoping to learn more about these before I get some range time with it.Cheers.
My late husband was a gunsmith and one of our friends was art director for Rifle and Handloader magazines. Dave LeGate left much of his military collection to us. I have found buyers for most of it, but recently found a bayonet. Not sure what gun it is for, or info on it. Photos attached hopefully. Any help would be appreciated.\
Forgot to mention, it is 17-3/4 inches long, 5-1/4" handle 12-1/2" blade.
Hello fellow collectors.
This is George from Central California. I enjoy collecting and shooting these old
military rifles. I served 8 years in the Army and have been a Sheriff Deputy for over 28 years. Thanks for allowing me to join your group.
I am a new member. I like World War II. I hope to go along well.
Would like to know how to improve the focusing on the No.32Mk1?
Hi Folks. I discovered this forum trying to figure out how to identify a .303 British that's been sitting quietly in my dad's footlocker for many decades. And gee... the rifle seems to have fetched the fancy of many. I'm not good at this forum stuff, so I promise I'll learn from my screw-ups and not repeat them. Let me know what sub-forum I can post the few photos I have. Thanking you all for your patience, Lucy
I'm not new but hello everyone

Fairly new to the world of gun collecting, happy to be here.
Howdy! Glad I found this site of like-minded collectors. I'm currently a doctor, but in my youth I was U.S. Army Infantry (hence the handle).
Currently, my oldest milsurp weapon is a Springfield March, 1945, M1 Garand.
Hope to learn more and collect more. I'm particularly interested in Enfields and 1903s.

Hello,
New to the group so just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. Not a die-hard collector. More of a guy who appreciates old things. I have a few TC muzzleloaders, a mosin or two and in about a week my first M95 straight pull.
I have been eye-balling a couple vetterlis and a Schmidt 96/11 (I haven't convinced the household finance officer in that yet lol).
Hope to learn a lot from you folks.
Gidday from NZ. New here. Keen on a number of things including 303B. Got more questions than contributions. Will poke them into appropriate threads as and when lol. Thanks for having me.

It's so informative and rich with otherwise impossible to find info... and everybody look so friendly!
I am particularly interested in British firearms of the Victorian era to WWII.
Ciao All!
I just registered on the site. I found this site through a search for a Eddystone bolt question and this looked like a place I might enjoy. In the beginning stages of my collecting. So far have acquired 2 Garands (though one is till pending from CMP), an National Postal Meter M1 carbine, a 1903 Mark I, and a Eddystone 1917. Reproduction rifles include a Kahr Thompson .45 and a Springfield M1A. Along with Colt 1911 (modern reproduction)
I've been through the black rifle phase of life and am turning more towards the classics, Milsurps and western cowboy arms. Thanks for letting me join here.
Good Morning Everyone,
My names Kyle and I live in the Niagara Region in Canada. I have always loved Enfields particularly Long Branches and have stumbled across this site when looking for information on multiple topics. It seems alot of the people here have a good amount of data and I hope to tap into that to keep this piece of history alive!
Will learn how all this works as I go. 71 year old disabled vet with bad feet and Type 2 diabetes (form the Agent Orange, they tell me over at the VA) of the Vietnam Era (9-67 to 4-69). Carried the M14 with select fire switch, bipod and extra mags while overseas. Really liked that rifle; anything I could see I could hit, on semi-auto. Really ticked me off that the MP's took away my cartridge collection at Tan Sonut (spelling?) Airfield so I could PCS back to the World.

Hello everyone, I am brand new to the Milsurps Forum. I have enjoyed reading many of your posts for the last few months and using your knowledge to help restore a variety of rifles. I just started collecting about 2 years ago and truly enjoy researching the history related to each firearm, preserving them for the future, and sharing them with friends and people who have never experienced anything like them. I am branching out into some more serious collectors pieces with different problems and will be seeking your assistance in insuring that they are preserved in the manner that best protects them and their value (that's how I convince my wife to let me buy them!). I would appreciate some immediate help reference being guided to the best location to get advice on preserving the stocks on a Kar98k and a series 11 Nagoya Arisaka (both have been stored in a private collection for a long time with no attention). Thank you!
Hello from France

Hello from Galion, Ohio and thanks for allowing me in the page. I am an avid gun collector/shooter.
I treasure milsurp weapons and accessories as part of our cultural heritage. Each has a story and history that often must be left to conjecture. Some have never seen combat but those that have intrigue me the most. My collection is small but I have tried to learn as much about each firearm as I can. This site has helped and I am confident it will be a great resource.
Hello all....
Just checking in as the FNG here. Interested in all US mil-surps but especially the M1 Garand and the '03 Springfields in their various iterations. If I step on any toes in the near future, I apologize in advance. I hope to get a few questions answered here as I need some information at the moment.
Thanks to all

Hello all,
I'm a new member and a collector of US Military Rifles. I've been reading different forums on here off and on over the past 5 years or so and decided it was time to join. Looking forward to being able to post in the future.
Hello from Long Island New York and thanks
Hello, new member from Virginia.
Hi everyone,
I have been (still am!) a collector of militaria for over 50 years. From 1850s until 1945. Mainly weapons related. WWI and WWII, MGs, SMGs, rifles and a few hand guns are my main interest. Also a few swords, bayonets and ordnance pieces along the way. Unfortunately I like them all and haven't narrowed my field yet and £££s permitting of course. I am not an expert on anything but wish to gain more knowledge from fellow collectors as yourselves. Hopefully contributing when I can.
I finally got my hands on a nice 1903-A3 built by Smith-Corona. I carried one on campus back in the day at Chafee Union High School in California.
I am retired USAF Master Sergeant and retired Air Force contractor in support of national overhead systems.
I collect firearms as they grab me - if I only had time and weather to shoot more I would be HAPPY.
Hi folks! Glad to be here. I am fairly new to collecting and I am mainly interested in 1911s and M1 Garands. Looking forward to meeting y'all!:)
Greetings all,
My name is Psyoper and I’m happy to be here! I need some help decoding a Lee Enfield stock disc. It on a very nice SMLE #1Mk3. This one is all matching, with the original T type Cocking Piece, Magazine Cutoff, and Long-Range Volley Sight. It was made by BSA in 1915. I’m pretty sure that the 12 15 on top means that it was accepted into service in December of 1915, and I’m pretty sure that the 255 on the bottom is a rack number. What I need to know is; what does the “10 LEIC” mean?
Thanks!
P.S. How do I post a picture?
Just a few minutes ago. I was at one time an avid Milsurp collector but not so much in the past 7 years. I sold many of my guns for medical bills in 2012 but have hung onto my favorites. I'm down to a Yugo SKS, a K31 and a M1881 Swiss Vetterli.
I have immediate family members who are also milsurp buffs so I have access to loaners.
I'm a shooter and hunter. If it doesn't shoot it's of no interest to me. I also enjoy hunting with my rifles and have used my favorite K31 to kill hogs and elk.
So, that's me in a "nut" shell.
Hello everyone. I'm new here but have been collecting since I bought a Trapdoor off the wall in the local butcher shop in 1963. Actually I traded muskrat hides for it. Still have it. Started out really into the Civil War, then on to the Fur Trade which was huge in our area. Always had an interest in history and archaeology etc. Now working on WWII era firearms and related items. As a kid I always loved buying the old surplus guns and cleaning them up. I remember WWI French rifles for $5.00 thru the mail. "Guns" magazine had Lugers and P38's for $39.95.
Hope to have some fun here and learn.
Greetings all,
I joined this evening, but have visited this forum before. I have small firearms collection that includes milsurps. My milsurps focus is on excellent examples of operational rifles, not super rare collectable rifles. I enjoy a fuctional collection of working rifles that I can shoot, maintain, repair, tinker with, and learn about. My new interest is the Lee Enfield No 4 rifle. I will be on here reading, learning, and posting about this classic favorite.
Greetings all. New member here with my obligatory first message.
New member here from Virginia's eastern shore. Thanks for having me, glad to be here!
Hello everybody,
I am a passionate collector of M1 Carbine, M1A1 rifle and Colt 1911A1 accessories and equipment.
I am looking so much forward to be a part of this forum.
All the best from Denmark,
Anders
hi folks; Just joined and looking forward to learning a lot from the vast amount of knowledge this forum draws on. I am interested in older milsurps, own a number of nice old WW 1 and 2 and postwar pieces ( Mauser C96, Webley 455, dewat Sterling) as well as being an avid cannon collector and have a good sized collection of mostly Webley flare guns. Weirdest piece I own is a 38 caliber harpoon gun by Greener a la Quint in Jaws. Occasional 22 target pistol shooter and just generally enjoy the shooting sports and the history of these great old guns. Like others I can remember Lee Enfields in a barrel at the surplus store for 25 each, Arisakas cheaper at 20, and a Sten at 35 bucks. Those were the days!
best regards Chris
Hi everyone,
New to the site. I am a shooter at Bisley UK. Recently purchased a .303 SMLE with Aldis scope with Purdey mounts. Trying to get it zeroed but limited vertical adjustment. Max elevation set, accurate at 200 yards. I understand that there is a way to increase the vertical cross hair if I take the scope apart. Anybody had similar issues?
Rgds John
Good Morning,
I found this site trying to research my Remington 03A3, which I got several years back but only recently began shooting it.
I have been a cowboy action shooter for about 20 years and one of the subsets is Wild Bunch and one of that subset is being able to shoot the 03A3.
Through the years I have also collected a well-used Garand, M1 Carbine and a Colt 1911 made in 1918.
I am lucky enough to have an 25 yard indoor range and another 300 yard rifle range near me and enjoy shooting various other pistols and rifles on a regular basis.
I'll try to do some reading on this site in hopes of getting background and information before asking questions.
Thank you!
Brand new to Mosins, looking to buy one in the near future. Decided to check out these forums. I do have a DCM Garand, that my youngest and I went thru and finally shot it recently.
Ancient collector of decades. Posting so I can PM.
Thanks Milsurps
Hi everyone. I have visited your site a few times and have found it to be a great site. I have purchased a number of WW2 era rifles and and from time to time will seeks your advice. I went to a gun show in a Virginia Beach today looking for an all matching Lee a Enfield. Also was trying to sell a few pistol to help pay for it. As it turns out a collector was selling a 42 Longbranch not matching for about the same price I was selling my Glock 43. We did a simply trade. I’m still in the market for an all matching Lee Enfield no 4 produced in Britain or a Savage. Again I hope I can offer some advice as many of you do....

Picked up the collecting bug in Baghdad when I saved a Stg44 from the chopping block back in '03. Wish they'd have let me keep it but at least a museum got it. My collection includes Russian & Finn Nagants, Mausers, Lee-Enfields, Garands and Carbines and others. Need Arisakas and some Carcanos for my WW2 collection. Just don't tell the wife.
Thanks for the add to this forum. I look forward , as a history nut and US Army Veteran, to learning and sharing knowledge with people here. Thanks Again!! Mike
Hi everyone, I have been reading a bit here about Ross rifles and I'm impressed by the accumulated knowledge. I just recently bought a Ross here in the Carolinas after looking for one for a long time. I have some interesting info about availability of reloading supplies for the .280 cartridge if anyone is interested.

Hello everyone,
Long time member of other military surplus focused boards but new member here.
Hello I'm pleased to have become a member and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a handyman and inveterate tinkerer with an enthusiastic interest in home guncraft.
I have considered several parts kits builds and find it quite interesting to peruse forums and see the experiences that others have had, lessons learned and mistakes to avoid.
That is got to be one of the most helpful things about being human: nobody has to know everything we can share information and problem solving
New to this forum, not really new to Mil Surplus, same user name across several forums.
Greg
Long term lurker. I seem to find most of the answers to my questions in others posts. I enjoy reading about “Barn Finds” restorations and particularly the unusual and obscure.
Oh..From Calfabulous the State of Shock!
Hi,
My name is Mike and I collect military surplus weapons. I don't think it's an addiction, but...
WW1 and WW2 mainly.
Thanks for the add.
Greetings from a long-time collector of C&R firearms, mostly milsurp but not entirely.
Looking forward to some entertaining conversations.
I'm from the younger generation, but I bring a lot to the table. I have a wide range of firearms from cowboy action types all the way to modern types and a lot of military guns from all over the world. Mausers are probably my soft spot.
I have getting close to 20 years experiance reloading, including a lot of milsurp calibers and even some obsolete cartridges military and commercial. Always interested in talking reloading if anyone else is also.
I did honestly join mainly for the classifieds, but absolutley look forward to the discussions!
Hello,
I like to collect vintage military items, mostly hats. To be quite honest, I joined this forum to help fill in the blanks in my research on vintage hats. Can't wait to start asking questions!
Hello people:
I collect M1 garands and military stuff. I have been doing it for over 18 yrs.
I've always wanted a M1 Garand. I already have a SA M1A1 in an Sage EBR stock.
My 21 yr old adult son and I just attended our first Apple Seed, at which we both earned our rifleman patch. So I ordered us each a M1 from the CMP.
I have been following the Bren forum for a long while, finally plucked up the courage to join, very impressed with the posts, and have gained a lot of knowledge from the other members.
As above, I am joining this forum because today I quite unexpectedly** found(while repairing a loft ladder for my mother, which involved lifting flooring in the roofspace)
My grandfathers UVF rifle, a L.E. I, dated 1898, Ser No. 5202 N, with a broad arrow stamp on the brass buttplate with the No. 540 beneath.
The rifle has a foresight protector, volley? sights, and the magazine is retained by a single link of chain. I believe there is a magazine cut-off fitted. I also found the matching bayonet.
There is light surface rust to the outside of the barrel, but the bolt and action are spotless and slick
Fortunately I am a long time member of a rifle and pistol club and hope/am reasonably sure I can add this rifle to my F.A.C.
Perhaps someone on here can advise if I can still get suitable 303 ammunition for this very early? L.E. rifle.
**Unexpectedly, since I scoured the farmstead and farmhouse some 50 to 45 years ago, searching for Grandfathers UVF rifle, obviously without success. I imagine a mischievous bachelor Uncle planted the seed, or perhaps it was seeing a photo of Grandfather on horseback in uniform, with his rifle. And I really must track that photo down.
Regards,
Marcus
