Hi I am a newcomer from Ontario, Canada. I am recently start interested in military surplus firearm collections.
New member from Massachusetts, Thanks for having me.
Greetings all!
I am new to the Military Surplus Collectors Forum and am making my first required post. I am active on the CMP Forum but am striking out in new directions while being hunkered down (i.e., Sheltered in Place). I look forward to learning from you as well as imparting what I know.
Best regards,
MadDog 1969
Greetings,
I am a new member and just want to say hi to all.
Hi, I've joined last night - nice to meet you all. I've been digging deep into anything Enfield related as I bought a Long Branch made No.4 Mk1* just before the lockdown here... I did manage four trips to the range but was barely getting used to it before everything shut down. On the positive side, I live just 20 minutes drive from Bisley ranges and the legendary Fulton's gunsmiths located there. I'm a full NRA member so am really looking forward to getting back to the range when things settle back to normal (whatever that will be!)
My No.4 is one of the many that were released from the Italian navy to Euroarms and although in pretty fair condition, its not a matching numbers rifle. As soon as things open up again I plan to use it for Historic Service Rifle matches but I think I'm going to need some practice first so that's a goal for 2021......
Stay well all!
Hi there,
Happy to be here, I've been a gun nerd since I was 10 and spend most of my Free time shooting, repairing, or buying and selling guns. I am mostly into more modern precision rifles, but I've had my fun with mausers, k31s, and mosin and looking forward to continue learning and trying new cool rifles.
Hi Everyone,
Just joined this great site. Own a Long Branch No4 T*with REL scope, SMLE, Long Lee and a No4.
Best wishes to you all during these terrible times.

Hello guys.
Im new on this forum but im looking for "Starry Squadron" movie.
The story is about american pilots who were fight in polish-bolshevic war from 1920.
Main story line was basic on Merian C. Cooper who was one of those pilots.
Yes its same Merian C. Cooper who was a director of first King Kong movie.
The film was shot in cooperation with military aviation. Scenes from the ground battle were filmed at the training ground near Biedruska. Over 200 aircraft were collected to take aerial photographs at the airport in Ławica near Poznań. For the first time in Polish cinematography, battle scenes were shot in the air thanks to cameras mounted on aircraft, operated, among others by Antoni Wawrzyniak and Mieczysław Bilażewski. The premiere of the silent film took place in Poland on April 10, 1930, and the world - in the sound version - in 1933. The film was widely distributed on the Vistula. All copies were taken or destroyed by the Russians after 1945.
If any of you guys know anything about working copy of this movie plese let me know.
Hello all,
Just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for adding me. I am, and have been fascinated with both World Wars and the Vietnam conflict since learning about them in High School, 26 years ago and hearing my uncle's war stories in the second world war on a Minesweeper.
Thanks again and I look forward to being a part of this wonderful forum.
Thanks
Jason
Greetings from Louisiana. Glad to be a member of this forum. I am looking forward to expanding my firearms knowledge, and I hope that I will also be able to contribute. I have spent 30 years as a curator at a Civil War battlefield park and am fairly knowledgeable about Civil War guns.
Hi Folks, new to this site and just want to say hello and introduce my self. Pete Lincoln, Ex REME Armourer. Still working in the Firearms Industry and just recently my interest in Enfield rifles seems to have re-kindled.
Hope you are all staying distant and safe at the Moment.
Glad to be here to refresh and learn.
Best regards Pete
So I have a technical background in Tool and Die engineering, but went back into computer programming a LONG time ago and have been doing that for 20+ years now. Want to get back into the mechanical side of life and looking for a Mill to start doing some work in the weapon restoring/creation hobby. I have a lot of experience in most of the 3-D cad/cam software out there and want to also use that to make better models for other avid creators out here.
Hi everyone. Just joined the group and wanted to say hello. Looking forward to learning a bit about vintage military firearms.

hello all,, new to the THIS forum, but member of others. LONG time gun guy. hope to make a lot of new friends Tuck
Hello
I’m looking for a M14 or m1a style weapon in 22lr, Kinginston Armory was going to make one but looks like they are of business. Anyone have any ideas how I can get something like that.
Good day.
I'll keep it short. I'm a police officer in Canada, I collect older milsurp firearms, joining up to get more access to the forums, make the odd post, try and find some parts that are eluding me for a rifle build.
So hello all.
Ran across this forum and looks like someplace I want to visit, Brian.
Signed up today after being a guest for a while. I've been collecting old military firearms for about 25 years, mostly from WWII era, but some earlier and some later. I enjoy the forum, lots of good information here!
Hello Soria0854,
Ruger makes a 10/22 that resembles an M1 carbine, but that's all I've found. I agree that an M1A version would be fun to shoot and own.
Ruger Carbine Autoloading Rifle Model 21102
I'll keep an eye out...
Hello Everyone,
I am a collector of inert ordnance from 1890s to 1920 era of 37mm and larger. I have collected for 3ish years now and love doing research on obscure material that has been largely forgotten in US ordnance. I'm a college student studying geology and military history has also been a side passion for me.
thanks for letting me join this community,
Ben
Happy to join a great site. I recently bought a Long Branch mk4*; coming back to target shooting after 45 years. Like many, I started in the school Army Cadet Force, on Mk4s and Bren guns (and 25 pounders as our coy. was affiliated to the Royal Artillery). So coming back to a first love. And just getting into reloading, so plenty to learn from this excellent site.
Hi, really like there's a forum for old military surplus rifles. I currently own several Enfields, M1 carbine, Mosin Nagants, & Mauser's from diff countries. Love shooting & working on them. Am presently re-storing a 1903/39 Turkish Mauser in 8mm. Picked it up as a basket case, perhaps there are others on here that have one or two. I also love the AK47 format, have built several with several projects on the table. I'm also into the AR15/AR10/AR9 & the M16. Being a 'Nam Vet, the M16 is my favorite weapon of choice. Not to mention that being retired is more fun than I expected it to be. Hope to make new friends & increase my knowledge on these old & historical weapons.
Thanks for having me & being here!
Hello Everyone,
I've jumped on this forum numerous times and always found the information useful. Today, I finally took the time to register. Over the years I've collected, refurbished, sold and worked on quite a few M1 Garands & M1 Carbines which are my primary interest. But, I like all Mil Surp!
thank you for welcoming me. I hope to bring a little and receive a lot :beerchug:
Good morning all. I have an interest in vintage military rifles. I am always looking to learn more about what I have and adding to my wish list. Thank you to everyone.

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself, I just started collecting military surplus rifles and wanted to join this forum to get more familiar with the different rifles that are available and recommendations for future purchases. I bought my first rifle a few months ago and was very happy with the purchase. It is a numbers matching Chinese SKS.
I have several other rifles that I would like to purchase in the future: Mosin Nagant M39, Mosin Nagant 91/30 (Fin or Russian), Swiss K31, Mauser M96, Lee Enfield No.4 Mk I and the M1 Garand. I have been waiting to receive my C & R license before I purchase any to avoid the cost and hazzle.
Does your members have any suggestions which one on the list I should go after, I have been looking at Empire Arm and he had an impressive list of M39 even some sneaks that I have missed out on waiting for my license.
I was raised in a house full of every kind of military small arm imaginable. My dad loved military surplus and collected a wide variety of Enfields, Mausers, Carcanos, Arisakas, Mosin-Nagants etc. I inherited my love of all things firearms from him. The 1903 Springfield bug hit me early and it is still my favorite firearm on earth. Just about anything WWI will get my attention. I love this site and look forward to many years of learning and hopefully contributing to it.
Take care,
Reb

Hello,
New to the forum, found you all while scouting for info.
I've been shooting and collecting for 40+ years and starting to expand my military collection after having bought, used and sold too many I should never have sold. Too many regrets that can only be solved by buying more.
I currently have two SMLEs (actually WWII Lithgow No1 and an early Enfield No2), Mossberg 42M-B and an FN .22LR k98 (not WWII but fits the theme and I'm still looking for a German .22 trainer).
Looking to pick brains and generally ask the stoopid questions.;)
Not a new member, but never posted before.
Hello, I'm a new member.
In researching the arms of the Third Iowa Vol. Cavalry I've found at least five companies that were partially armed with "Light French rifles, cal. .577." through 1863. That is one of the pre-printed column headings for "Rifles, First Class" on the Quarterly Ordnance Stores summaries created by the Ordnance Department sometime before 1896 from the original company and regimental returns before the originals were destroyed.
I've been trying to locate more specific information as to what those arms were. Can any members shed light on this?
Tom56
I'm Dave, live in Arizona and have a modest collection of US and British firearms with bayonets from pre-WWI to WWII. I look forward to making contact with other collectors to discuss and compare items in our collections. Best regards to all. D
Hello, thanks for allowing me to be a part of this forum.
Long time shooter and acquirer of weaponry (notice I did not say collector because I have no focus).
Accidentally found this forum and immediately recognized its value.
Hope to enjoy many experiences on the site.
Hello from South Louisiana.
I’ve been collecting milsurps for a few years. Bought my first, a 1916 Spanish Mauser, in 1985 and still have it. I’ve acquired a few others over the years. Once I learn how to post pics, I’ll post a few.
Hello to everyone, been a hunter, target shooter, gun buyer for about 60 years. I guess in 1969 toten a M-14 all over Ft.Knox got me to liking Hi-power rifles. Have a M1a and a 1903 Springfield, and some others. Good rifles are like a good steak hard to beat. Enjoy reading all the posts and glad to be in the group. I live about 20 miles east of Mammoth Cave and 30 miles north to the Corvette Plant. Enjoy shooting and hunting but don't go as much as I used too. Being almost 70 not good as I once was ! When I get out in the woods its still makes me smile, game or no game the thrill of the hunt is still with me. Take care and I'll be reading many posts.
Gday all . Just joined. Some very useful info and knowledgeable people here. SMLE’s are My main interest , particularly our Aussie Lithgow’s.cheers
Hello All
From the Atlanta Ga. area. New member here but not new to this. Been interested and collecting US military arms for awhile. My main interests are from the US Civil war to Vietnam War. Thanks for the add.
Newbie here,
Started collecting this year with milsurp from nearly every ally/axis force. Cheers everyone!
I'm back after 15+ years of doing other stuff. No time like the present . . .
I'm new, joined yesterday. Blah, blah, blah I like old guns. The combined knowledge base and experience of the members and contributors at milsurps.com is mind bending. I've been around the block a few times so maybe I can repay the kindness and generosity already shown to me in 2 days I've been here, with a tip now and then. I live in California and everything you've ever heard about it is probably true. But I get almost 300 days of sunshine a year so bite me. :dancingbanana::)
Brian saying hello from Kentucky hope everyone is staying safe
Hello,
I am new to this group.
Have been collecting for some time..I have a special interest in rare and unusual 11's ..Also ones with a real provenance.
Recently very interested in Union Switch and Signal 1911a1's and any material relating to their manufacture. I am fortunate to have the US&S official (priviate) history of their arms manufacturing during WW2 published by the Company right after the War. Came from WW2 era senior employee estate.
Also collect Navy issued 11's...many w provenance.
Parts ( military) are quite interesting as to idiosyncrasies of manufacture.
Best of wishes during this Covid pandemic..

Hello new member here. I've been collecting for almost 12 years now and am always looking doe great places for references, buying and selling.
I'm Nick from Milwaukee and am joining my very first forum to, hopefully, grow my knowledge in the area militaria collection and share my passion with the similarly addicted. My focus is WWII Axis but am also on the look out for WWI Central Powers and open to any piece of interest from any period.
I particularly need to lean on fellow collectors and reference material to do a better of correctly identifying potential purchases. My present great white whale hunt is for authentic Japanese Type 90 helmet liners which, I understand, are a sparse commodity.
Looking forward to sharing my hobby and improving my experise with your collective help.
Hi all , newbie collector , SLR , all bits of , have a collection of Energa , and attachments , , Gpmg SF , display being put together now ....just missing odds and sods
Very good forum.
Hi all!
I found this forum while researching one of the two ship's my father served on during World War II, the USS Zircon (PY-16).
The thread I found is here.
Since it was recommended that I not replay to that reply to that nearly three-year-old thread, I thought I would answer some of the questions posed.
The Zircon was sold to the Sandy Hook Pilots Association after the war, and after undergoing refitting, served as a pilot boat in New York for twenty years. Its name was chanced to New York. When the association had a brand new boat built, it sold the ship to John Mecom (technically, the Polymer Engineering Corporation of Houston, Texas... Mecom's company). Mecom appears to have run it aground on 4 May 1988. Mecom's grandson told me that Mecom attempted to rehab it, but that he didn't know what became of it. It's my hope that the ship exists somewhere, perhaps as a house boat. It has not showed up on any registries since that time.
I'm currently in the process of locating families of all the sailors who served aboard the ship. I've spoken with five, and one of those I met. I have been collecting photos from the ship's days as Frederick J. Fisher's yacht, its time as the Zircon, and one as it was undergoing the refitting prior to its Sand Hook service. I also have a newspaper photo of it in service in New York.
I am constantly on the lookout for photos of it or anything related to it. One fellow sent me a photo of a clock his grandfather absconded with during the ship's conversion from the Nakhoda to the Zircon. Most of the expensive detailing on the ship was removed. The granddaughter of the skipper of the Nakhoda has some of the furniture. I found a clipping in the New York Times regarding the sale of other pieces of furniture from the Nakhoda.
I continue my search for sailors' families, trying to find photos that might help me to piece together the bits of the ship's history. I'm blogging about various aspects of my findings here.
Any help or suggestions are welcome.
Hi,
My name is Max and I have just become a new member
Hi All,
I am an American, now living in the Netherlands since 2001- grew up with firearms (strictly for hunting or target) and learned gun safety at a very young age.
I was a firearms instructor while teaching in the US in the early 80's - and have now agreed to purchase a Lee Enfield No5MK1 Jungle Carbine from a collector near us in Limburg. I have always been interested in WWI and WWII firearms and history- living so close to where much of the fighting took place is fascinating! Seeing the Point du Hoc cliffs and the Belgian Ardennes surrounding Bastogne... talking to the people who live there... one of my main interests now is keeping history alive for the next generation.....
I hope to learn alot from you experts here........
Welcome Robert. I travel a lot around there (pre-covid at least). Interesting place. You’ll like it here. See ya
Hello. Just signed up on here. Looks rather interesting.
Whiffles, you know who you are. I need to get your username to list as my referral. Call or text.
Howdy everyone! I'm AJ, I was never really big into firearms until my grandfather gave me a Type 14 Nambu, and an No. 5 Mk. 1 Lee Enfield that had been in his barn at the two houses he and my grandmother have owned (that's the name we refer to his workshop/garage by because it is built exactly like a barn, as are all of his sheds, for aesthetic purposes I guess, as they live in a farming community). Anyways, those two Milsurps are what got me big into firearms, due to my obsession with military history, strategy, tactics, etc. and gave me another hobby in the form of amateur/basement "gunsmithing/armoring". I cleaned up both guns, and am working on restoring the Enfield to her former glory by replacing it's molested flash hider, with one that has the bayonet lug intact.
(I had previous experience with guns, but never got "The Bug" until I got the older pieces in my collection)
I am turning 20 soon, and am currently studying Criminal Justice at a nearby college, with the goal of becoming a State Trooper.
Hello out there, thanks for letting me onboard. Been a collector foe 20+ years, mostly U.S. military but some German. Most recent addition is a Rock-Ola M1 Carbine all parts correct except no magazine. Any help in locating a Rock-Ola magazine will be greatly appreciated.

Hello all..
I am looking for parts of lots of rifles..
sort of an ecclectic hobby of mine.
Currently looking for Ross Rifle mk II parts and a 16 gauge barrel for a model 97 winchester.
Just waving the hand to all. New member here, always like the old surplus rifles. Bought my first way back in about 1969 or 1970. Cut grass all summer to get the $21.00 to get an old 7x57 Mauser. Handpicked it from a garbage can full of them at Roses Department Store. No crest and the stock had been sporterized with a hack saw looked like. Had a bunch over the years. Got a Yugo M48B, and an Iranian M49 in 8mm now, as well as a Husqvarna M38 Swede.
Hi All, thanks for having me on board. Finally got around to joining
Looking forward to expanding my limited knowledge of Milsurps from you guys
Hello, I have a little collecting experience and can't wait to build my collection. Lots of questions on the way!
Hey Milsurps members!
My name is Kevin, I live in New Mexico and I just registered.
I ended up here researching M1Carbines and their folding stocks.
I am mostly interested in M1 Carbines and Mini-14's presently.
I hope to learn a lot here about all sorts of vintage firearms.
Best of Luck to you All in these crazy times we live in!
Hello all, I'm a new member, just trying to get used to it. I'm into wwii rifles and pre 64 model 94 winchesters. I've built several from parts. Currently working on two 1903 Springfields, one of them a Remington 03A3. The other is a Springfield 1903. I saw that another member makes a tool for installing the rear sight collar on the 1903. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to contact him. Thanks, jack
Hello Everyone!
New member on here. I reside in Maine and have been enjoying buying and tinkering with military surplus rifles for about ten years now. Hoping to learn some good information here and check out some beautiful old rifles! Wood and steel, they don't make em like they used too!!!
Lucian
Greetings from NE Okrahoma.
Inherited several milsurps from my dad. This included some nice examples and some puzzle guns. In my fathers later years he could take things apart but not put them back together. He liked mausers and enfields. Anyway I have reassembled what I could and have alot of parts left over. No barrels or actions. I have several bolts Mauser, Enfield P14 or P17 not sure. Barrel bands, sling swivel assy's, action parts etc. I would like to find a good home for these parts and make a little money to cover shipping and my time.
I would like to do some shooting with the complete guns. And with the help of this site learn more about them.
Hi All!
Im a brand new member to this web site and an up and coming collector of WW1 militaria!
Best Regards,

50 years ago on my 16th birthday I bought a 1943 Lee Enfield Long Branch No4 Mk1* sporter with the intent of bagging a moose with it. Never did. In fact, never did fire it. Instead, more modern & varied weaponry went with me on the hunt or to the range.
Now is the time to put a few rounds through her before Canadian gun laws get so restrictive that it may become too onerous or restrictive to do so.
I have been scanning this site's Enfield forum as a lead-in to doing so. Very interesting and informative. Thanks to all.
Greetings from Houston, TX. Picked up a couple No 1 Mk III muskets from Century and found you while looking for information.
Hi  everyone. New to the community. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it.
Hi  everyone. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your community.
Hello, I'm not a collector but I have what I think is a rare piece. I will post some photos after I do a bit of research. Thanks!
Hello Everyone
Looking to learn more about the mil-surplus I have gathered over the years in terms of exactly what I have, what things are worth and to generally improve my knowledge about collecting.:)
I found y'all on google. Looking for an answer for no4mk 1 issue. post was 34 months old, but exactly what i needed. safety timing. thx again.
Hello everyone, long time lurker finally joining today.
I've been a member for a while but not actively participated until now.
Even though I have only been a collector for 4 years I have gathered a significant collection in that short time.
So far I have confined my interest to the 1870's to 1950's period, no muzzle loaders as yet. I don't specially collect any type or make of gun, everything is of interest especially if its different and unusual or in outstanding condition.
I'm fortunate to be the current owner of the 1942 simplified Enfield prototype that was featured on Forgotten Weapons, that would have to be the rarest gun I own and I intend to do a full owners review on it when I get time, including a range report. Yes I'm going to shoot it.:move eek:
A pair of Winchester 1895 Russian contract rifles with almost sequential serial numbers is up there as well. The two rifles could have been packed in the same crate when they left Winchester, both where issued to the Russian army and both where captured by the Finns. One was subsequently converted by the Finns to a sporting rifle in 8.2x53R (a Finnish wildcat based on the 7.62x54R case) while the other was left all original and in very good un refinished condition. It's a very accurate shooter as well.:D
Both rifles ended up in Oz decades later where I purchased them from different people, what are the odds of that? It's a small world.
Anyway glad to be aboard guys.
Hi all,
My names Ryan i'm a Scot originally from Glasgow now living just a smidgen across the border in Carlisle. My main hobby is 2nd World War living history and for the last 2 years have been trying to slowly build up a snipers display of sorts with my No.4 that I recently had converted to a No.4(T). I've found myself over the last couple years visiting this forum semi-regularly for popular topics on the No.4(T) to gather information and some knowledge and thought it was about time I created an account :) .
I am a new member interested in Lee Enfield no5 mk1 parts, but mostly stock sets and wood sets.
Thank you for having me
Looking all over for MG34 parts :)
I am a new member. I have been collecting since the 1970's.

My wife and I own a very busy, full service, Gunsmith business in Jacksonville Florida with a focus on restorations. We are currently restoring a Krag 1898 with a new barrel, wood refinish, and bluing. We have 2 Savage 99's, Colt double barrel 12 ga, and a dozen others getting the same treatment. We are also collectors and we recently acquired a Steyr M98 8x56r that needs a barrel. That is how I got here. We have accumulated a lot of gun parts and stocks. While reading your post, I realize we might have stuff listed in wtb. It will take some time to get up to speed but I will make the effort to sort through my bins as questions arise. Feel free to message me with detailed descriptions. Mauser, Springfield 03, and Enfield parts are what we have the most of. Bolts triggers, bands, sights, etc.
Hi all, my first post. Glad to be here and learn a little more about military surplus!
I have owned a number of #4’s and #5’s over the years, just great history
Thanks people

I joined a while ago, but never got to posting. I’m originally from Canada and moved to the US 22 years ago. I became interested in military rifles from my Dad, I have some of his collection now. I’m partial to the LE, I have 5 No. 4 rifles and a C No. 7. Also, a two M1 rifles, 1903A4gery, Swedish Mauser Carbine.
I call myself more of a shooter than collector. I enjoy shooting in the CMP matches here in the US. I wished I had taken this up when I was younger.
Glad to be here, this forum is a wealth of knowledge. You probably won’t see many posts from me, it’s enough keeping up with two other forums I’m active on. But who knows...if you get talking Lee Enfields, I probably can’t help myself and will jump in.
Greetings,
I stopped here to review info on the Krag. I signed in as a way to show support for this forum. The free, respectful exchange of information is how we grow as individuals and as a culture. As a reveal of my character I reject using Icons and emoticons. Or perhaps I am just too old to indulge in such modes of expression.
