My father won this rifle at Camp Perry in 1929 by placing high civilian in the Navy Cup Match. It is the rifle that he taught me to shoot with so I have a great deal of emotional capital invested in it. It is missing some parts for the Lyman # 48C rear sight. Can anyone help with a replacement Lyman 48C rear sight?

Hi All,
New member here.
Looking forward to future information sharing.

I could, but I won't. And I'm doing you a favor. If this rifle has true sentimental value and you know little about them, I envy you your journey. You can fill 95% of the knowledge about the 1903 and many more without leaving milsurp.com. But you have some searching and reading to do. Exhaust all that and then if you have any questions, post it in the appropriate place and subject matter experts will be happy to help you out. Have fun!
New member, but I've landed here before when doing research, and it's obviously a high quality forum. I don't have a lot of pieces, but I love guns and the history of arms, and I'm glad to be here now! I'll try not to ask too many stupid questions!
New member. I am a collector of old and modern weapons. Collection of about 200 pieces
Hi,
I'm a new member, and asking for help with my newly acquired Steyr 1912 Mexican Short Rifle in 7mm Mauser. The cocking piece can be removed only with the aid of a crescent wrench - a very tight fit! The inner grooves are damaged a bit, but not the lugs on the firing pin. The firing pin's serial number doesn't match any other part, but the cocking piece and the bolt body numbers do match. The rifle has a 4 digit serial number, the firing pin has a 5 digit number. Do I need a firing pin mfg by Styer, or what?
Thanks,
