Hello and thank you for letting me in.
Hello All !
I am a new boy to the site with a new found interest in Carcano Rifles !
I recently purchased a nice refurbished Carcano M38 G 6985 and I am quite fascinated by the late 1930's Italian concept for a military rifle ! Being largely ignorant of Italian weaponry, hither to, its proving to be a fascinating ride of enjoyment and interest. As an older person I struggle with a computer's workings but find great interest in a rifles 'modus operandi' !
Seeking help always, could I ask my first question ! what should be the depth of the Lands on an M38 - purpose to understand if it has been well/over used ?? Having fired only 6 rounds so far the front sight is in need of adjustment to the right !
Thank you for any advice !
I am,

Hey everyone,
I am into Lee-Enfield rifles, and looking for resources, and to give what I have to keep my hobby going!

New to this sight but not to repairing antique guns. And my gun cabinets show it.
Hi folks,
Lots of good information and expertise on this site for sure. I came here to learn a little more about an old 1903 Springfield passed down to me. Didn't take long to learn that it was made in 1923 by the receiver serial number although the star gauged barrel is dated later (7-29). I have shot it a little with cast bullets for fun and can see why these century old rifles still have such a following. I also have a few combloc rifles and handguns, but nothing else compares to the workmanship of the Springfield!

buckeye39
Welcome all, Seasons greetings. Stay Safe and hope we can help you with your specific Milsurps collectables.;)
Hello everyone and thanks for adding me to your site. I am just a gun collector and I like WW1/WW2 items. I have just picked up a #4 Mk1 T sniper great rifle shoots very nice but
the scope does not match the rifle so I will give out my numbers to see if anyone has a match.
Scope TEL: STG: No 32. Mk 2/1
U.I.C. 1400 G.A.
No 37
Scope can F37202
Scope mount 3 68475
Top of but stock 19908 I think some numbers stamped in the wood are hard to read
Rifle numbers H32882 M47C 1944 TR And T stamped on the side
All numbers match on the rifle and the wood case is dated 1944.
The S51 is not stamped on the but stock. If anyone can give me any info on this rifle that would be great.
If any of these numbers match other rifle out there I would make a trade and if anyone out there has the numbers I need please let me know thanks.
Add it to the threads about LE scopes wanted and found. You may have a match there.
Start a thread about your T in the appropriate thread with many photos showing numbers. The experts will be along soon.
So happy to find you. Baby boomer, Military brat, grew up on WWII in TV and books, just like many of you, no doubt.
Relentlessly Patriotic.
A very blessed Christmas to you and yours.

Hello to my new Milsurps Friends. I've been collecting since early 80,s Bought and sold (sold), Now that's a word we don't talk about too often., it just a sore subject. Looking forward to the shared info.
I am looking for some input. I've purchased a sweet looking M1917 Eddystone in excellent condition, its got the mixed bag of parts, but a beautiful looking rifle. i haven't had the chance to exam her yet, shes in transit to my ffl dealer. the concern im having is the rifle looks as though its been rebuilt at GM? and has a some what new Johnson Automatics Barrel installed. i was wondering how worried i should be about the receiver being cracked. it was advertised as being in excellent condition on Gunbrokers.com so i threw the dice. anybody got any thoughts on the matter?
Hello everyone.
I am happy to join the community and hope to meet new friends. My interest is Lee Enfield WW2 and the Snider so far. I am not a collector or a reseller, just interested in learning more about the hobby. I live halfway between Peterborough and Ottawa and have my own range.
Hello all, I was on the first version of the forum. Collect C&R primarily martial arms. Particular interest in Swedish M1894-96 series, Rifle, Cal. .30, M1 aka "Garand", M1903 & M1903A3, PiM, and others.
Newby here, I live in the free state of Indiana
Joining after a few years of finding good info. Interest in 303 Brit reduced loads at the moment. Cheers and all the best in 2021.
Good Morning. My name is Robert, and I have a Milsurp weapons habit. It is not a large collection, nor does it consist of extraordinary examples of Misurp rifles. But it is all mine, and they are all shooters. Unfortunately what I have not been is a collector of large ammo stockpiles, so I am limited on what I can shoot and how often.
I belonged to this forum many years ago and I have now returned. Just like MacArthur!
Greetings all and welcome to 2021.
I've been around firearms on and off most of my life, but am still a novice and completely new to the world of collecting C&R rifles. My primary interest is the WWI-WWII era and I have done some reading on-line over the years, but I just made my first purchase (No4 Mk I). At a glance, I don't think I did too well, but I'll head over to the Lee-Enfield forum and see what I can find out.
Thanks for having me!

Hi,
Quite happy to find this site. Very interesting.
I'm interested in WW2 story and weapons.
I actually own a garand, mosin nagant, carcano, swedish mauser, enfield, SKS
Hope to learn more about them.

Hey, I'm Mitch from Columbia SC. I have several milsurp pistols and rifles including a Gewehr 88, a Verterlli, a Lee Metford (sporterized apparently by a Boer), a Mosin Nagant Rifle, and a Ross M-10. The M-10 is missing some parts, and I'm pretty sure the bolt has not been assembled correctly. I've been doing a lot of surfing and searching, and from this site, I know a lot more than I did a couple of hours ago. I plan on looking and learning some more until I can get this thing working. Very hard to find parts anywhere. Glad to be here.
hello to all new member to this Forum been collecting a long time but new to military hardware so learning the ins and outs of it Thanks hope to gain some Knowledge
Hello everyone
I joined this board in 2009 but never made a post. I thought I'd try to start here by saying I recently picked p a 1905 mk II and I need some advice.

Lads and Lasses,
Odd name, eh? But as I've walked the Grand Portage under a 22 foot freighter canoe, under a tumpline, had a swig of rhum, knee deep in the water, then continued paddling to Winnipeg. According tradition, everyone who does that is an Homme Du Nord.
Life on the eastern slopes is grand, it's life affirming to live here.
Hi All, Greetings from sunny Florida. Been down here for approximately 6 years via cold Illinois. I've recently taken up shooting again after a hiatus when my Rod & Gun Club moved too far away. During that time, I shot and reloaded for 15 different military calibers. Great fun and those days will fondly be remembered. Looking forward to starting up again here in Florida.

Hello, everyone.
I'm a retired Army Infantry NCO and an employee at a LGS for the last 34 years. I've been collecting various types of firearms for a long time. Looking forward to learning from the experienced people here.
Howdy everyone,
I have been collecting and shooting milsurp firearms for over 40 years. I have bought, sold, and traded a bunch of old firearms in the past. I still have a few left and I still enjoy the hobby. I have enjoyed this forum for a lot of years.
Hi I have been looking for a part for my scope for a long time now. the Trilux Scope part that I am looking for is the pointer. I do not now what it is called. All I know is the pointer in side the scope that lights up. I am hopping you have a scope that I can us the part off of to fix's mine? Ore do you know where I can get that part? Thanks Curtis
I've been reading the forum for some time and wanted to introduce myself. I am a long time milsurp collector and do a lot of shooting and restoring.
Greetings from the Netherlands. Joining this forum to see if you can help me ID an old k98. I already posted a thread but it is not showing up yet. See you in the Mauser subforum!
Hi everyone. I'm a 70 year old retired Jarhead, always interested in military arms. Beyond that, I've just always loved firearms and their use. In the last 2 years, I've ended up with 4 Lee Enfield rifles. A new, out-of-the-paper No4Mk2, 1955 Fazakerley. 1944 Lithgow, 1918 BSA, and my most recent acquisition, a beautiful 1922 No1Mk5. I think the Mk5 is the most interesting, being a transitional rifle. 6xxx serial, showing no signs of general troop issue, with a pristine bore. With the winter here, I haven't shot it beyond 50 yards, so am not going to brag about its accuracy till I can get it out to at least 200 yards. My WW1 rifles are the most interesting, US and Brit.
All the best to all here
Hello, fairly new. been collecting awhile. like the history ,learning, and the knowledge presented here.

Hello all, finally decided to make a account after so long of lurking in groups for information!
Hello everyone. Glad to be here. This place has great info!
Greetings from the frozen tundra where we got over 30 inches of snow last month- in 1 day!
I have been shooting M 1's/ M1A/ AR 15/ 03A3/ M1917 since the 1990's.
M1917 Eddystone is the latest, shot today in the bright sunshine with a 20 mph wind, temp was 30. Nice day for 2/6/21 in this neighborhood. 4 good shooting clubs within a 30 minute drive. C M P matches at 2 once in a while. NRA highpower at 3. Spring is just around the corner.

I just want to introduce my self as I am new to the forum. I look forward to all of the great info that is available from all of the other members.
Hi all...I actually signed up awhile back but have yet to make a public post. I have a C&R and love collecting WW1 WW2 small arms with emphasis on Walther pistols and holsters. I just picked up a RIA 1903 with a Springfield serial number, correct C stock and 1928 SA barrel. I will be posting photos shortly. Its great to be here and i'm looking forward to sharing information with members on the MSC forum.
Test to see if I can post here and who I post as
Hello. I am Joe and greetings from frigid Illinois. Longtime handgun enthusiast who is new to owning Milsurp rifles. Just purchased my first Garand, and am in the process of hopefully getting a 1903. Since I’m new to the subject matter, this forum looked like a good place for guidance. Thank you.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone on this forum.
I like shooting civil war firearms and have need collecting Remington military rolling block rifles, carbines and pistols for about 30 years.

Have a god day.
Hi, my name is Robert from Madison, IN. I'm glad to be a member of this beautiful forum. Thank you.
Thanks very much for allowing me into the group. Been shooting & collecting for 60+ years and looking forward to making many new contacts through this group. Cheers CC
Good morning. I simply want to say thank you for allowing me the opportunity to join your group. I am a 1911 and 1911a1 collector. Also I am a cowboy action and wild bunch shooter who re-loads his own target ammunition: 12ga 20ga .38 special and .45acp. I tentatively also plan to load 45 colt cartridges. My father had a distinguished military career in the army. WW2 and Korea. He was aware I had a keen interest in firearms, and had me shooting his Colt ace .22 at age eleven while living in Germany in 1964. The rest is history! Thanks again for your gracious invitation to join your group.

I've visited here at times seeking info, lots of expertise here. Thought I'd finally sign up!
Looks like good info. I'm interested in learning more about 1903 and Garands.
Good day all!. New to site and am impressed with information available. I am interested in rebuilding Lee Enfields and other service rifle themes, having shot service rifle in the CAF for many years. Cheers!
I have just acquired a 1903A4 sniper rifle from my brother, he brought it back from Vietnam 1967-68 from a warehouse of captured and turned in weapons, serial #3408432 barrel date 2-44, if I am looking at this correctly that would make it the #1344 in the first serial number block and if that is correct what scope [scopes] would be correct for it since it is one of the early rifles, I am a first time new member and would appreciate any help I can get in this matter.
Oldtar, you will get more answers by posting in the 1903 forum. Use the drop down from "Forum" at the top and post in the 1903 section. You can also search on the site [top right] that might net you more information quickly.
G'day from New Zealand.
Great place for info & history on firearm related items...
Howdy folks. With only 5 milsurps at the moment, I won't call myself a "collector", but I'm working at becoming one.
Hi Everyone, Hello from Calgary, Alberta Canada!
Hi
I am new to gun collecting, having recently inherited a small collection of guns formerly belonging to my father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
As such, I am looking to whittle down the extras as I am unsure exactly what to do with them all. Some appear to be worth a lot, others, a little.
Hi all, I'm looking to purchase my first rifle. I'd love an MLE or carbine, or early SMLE. I've not owned or shot anything as an adult, but did shoot Lee Enfield's regularly as a teenager, in the army cadet, in the UK, in the 70's. Of course now I've started looking, I can see clearly, that in time I'll need more than one :) I like to restore stuff too, which is lucky cos I'm on a tight budget. Currently living in Malta - the Mediterranean island, not the US town.
Hi all. New member, refurbing and shooting enfields to keep myself sane from dealing with technology. around CGN and a few other places too. decided to join here after mooching too much useful informaiton from here ;)
Hello everyone, I'm a historian who works mostly on the 1930s with a focus on the Spanish Second Republic and Civil War. I've started to get into collecting firearms from the civil war, and am always on the lookout for more of them or simply the chance to learn more about them! I had a good talk with a Range Safety Officer the other day and he suggested I join.
I enjoy refurbishing, or as my partner calls it "turd polishing"!
I spend a lot of time with my father reading and collecting. Looking forward to returning the favor so I can try to teach HIM something!
Greetings to everyone here from southern Finland. Collecting weapons and military for about 30 years.

Hello,
I'm posting on this forum as a new member.
My interest is in items related to No4(T)
Thanks in advance for any assistance in my endeavors!
Hello to the Group,
I'm KP, and I recently discovered that my old .30-06 Springfield might be an NRA Sporter.
I've been hunting deer with it for about the last 12 years, and until this past season the old 4X Lyman scope seemed sufficient... until I had to pass up a fairly long shot at a trophy buck 'cause I couldn't see it well enough to shoot confidently in the fading light of dusk.
So, I went to Cabela's and bought my Christmas present (from my wife); a new Vortex Viper 4-16 X 44 scope. The gentleman who sold it to me took me to the Gun Library to ask the resident expert to make sure my old .30-06 was safe to shoot modern ammo in before I bought a new scope for it. He introduced me; and the librarian looked up my serial number and confirmed it would be safe to shoot. "Do you want to sell it?," He asked. I thought he was just politely asking as part of his job, since Cabela's buys and trades guns.
A few weeks later I took my gun back to Cabela's to see if I could exchange the scope and rings for some that better suited my needs, and another salesman, likely in his 20's, asked me if I wanted to sell it. I said, "No, it was Grampa's deer rifle, and I just want to see if I can get it to shoot accurately at a little longer range than I have previously." He asked if I knew what it was, and I told him, "Sure, it's an old military Springfield 30-'06 in a custom stock." He said, "No, that's an NRA Sporter." I said, "a what? ...no, it's a custom stock..." and then he showed me photos on his large-screen phone. He owns a gun similar to it, and showed other photos from a book he recommended. My gun looks a lot like those in the book. So, I bought that book on the Springfield Model 1903. According to the Serial #, it's a 1924 product. It looks to be an NRA Sporter. One book says it should have a 20" barrel, another says it should be a 24". This one is a 22". The shape of the barrel looks right, but it has no marks on the end. I haven't taken it apart yet. The stock is checkered. Those appear to be quite rare. It has the relief cut out for the Lyman rear sight. No rear, or front, sight.
Dad always said Grampy's .30-06 was "a military Springfield with a custom stock." I've had the gun for 15 years. If it is a rare or special edition, I'm sure Dad never mentioned it, even though it was a part of his very nice gun collection for over 40 years. His dad, Dr. C.J. Miller, was kind of famous in Nebraska from the 20's through the 50's for his gun collection and hunting prowess. He was featured in an article about hunting Grizzlies in Canada in Outdoor Life (I believe it was) in the 20's. Anyway, I shot the .30-06 a few times when I was in my 20's, and was always impressed with how accurate it was. I only knew Dad to shoot it a couple/few times. I don't really know how much Grampy shot it, but I know he owned and shot many guns, and sold and traded many more over a span of many years. For some reason, he held onto this one.
I plan to inspect it further, and learn how to clean the bore very thoroughly without risking damage. It still shoots accurately, so I don't want to screw that up. The muzzle velocity of ammo I've shot and that my friend measured with his chronograph was the same as it was advertised to be... so I'm confident the bore is still in good shape.
Expert advice about SAFELY cleaning the bore thoroughly is welcome. Tips on positively identifying this rifle would be appreciated, also. Serial # is 1,265,082. Thanks!
Hi,
My name is Malcolm Atkin. I used to be an archaeologist and was a member of the steering committee of the old Defence of Britain project. Since taking early retirement in 2009 due to MS, I have become a full-time military history researcher and have had several books published on the subjects of plans for WW2 British resistance, Home Guard and early WW2 British intelligence (see Home | Malcolm Atkin Military Research). Currently working on the development of the philosophy that shaped British special operations in WW2 but keep getting side-tracked into obscure aspects of militaria.
Hi everyone!
I signed up for the site a while ago but, for various reasons, never got around to posting a message. Well, better late than never as they say!
I've had an interest in history and WW2 for quite some time but it's only over the last several years that I've been actively collecting military "stuff". That's not quite how my other half describes it! :)
What I've collected has been mostly aircraft related, such as aircraft parts & veteran signatures, but more recently I started collecting inert ammo, clips, magazines & belts - UK, American & German. This has now started to branch further into Cold War-related items. I've built up a relatively small but growing collection of non-aviation items. Cue tutting and rolling of eyes from the other half!!
I'm looking forward to learning more from the collective knowledge of the forum members.
All the best,
Paul

Hello to all,
I am looking for someone to help me with my rifle scope. This week when I went to the range to shoot, it lost its sharpness, I have a blurred vision now. Has anyone who owns a Red Star Moutain No. 32 had this problem?
Thank you in advance for your help.

I own several milsurp rifles (M1 garands, M1 carbine, O3A3, SMLEs, K96/11, K11, K31) so this looks to be a great forum to be a part of. I look forward to using this forum to learn about my milsurp collection and to offer what I can in that regard. My recent interests have focused on the straight pull Swiss rifle series so I have been looking at some of those discussions. Thanks!
Hello,
I am a collector of Great war British and Empire western front related items. Hoping to get some input from this site, thanks
Hi There

Hello, new member here, from Panama City Florida. I'm retired Air Force, where I did Aircrew Life Support (122X0, 1T1X1, 1P0X1). I've been lurking on here for a few months absorbing information and knowledge, and figured it was about time I introduced myself properly.
Not a new collector per se, I started collecting in Jan 2011 when my wife (CINC Household) talked me into buying a Turkish Mauser. That one Milsurp started me on a path to addiction. I bet she regrets convincing me to make that purchase now.

If you can touch it and it shoots bullets, it's real.
Good Morning,
Thanks for the welcome.
Inherited a trunk of old rusty rifle parts. From those parts restored an '03 Springfield, Mosin M-38, and an old Sears Roebuck, J.C. Higgins .22.
Need some parts to un-sporterize a 71/84 Mauser, 1888. Barrel, stock, bands...

Hey Collectors,
I am joining hoping I can be a match maker. I am in the possession of the scope for No.4Mk.1T 32494
I was handed a couple of rifles to appraise for a friend of a relative. To my surprise one of the rifles, a 1952 Winchester Model 94. Was sporting a military scope. I have several WWII rifles in my collection so had an idea that the scope was probably worth much more than the rifle. The scope is Marked:
TEL.STG No 32 MKIII
O.S. 2039 A
A.K & S No 22559
1945

It has the leather scope cover. It also has what looks like a bronze sleeve at the front as what might be a shade. The turrets are frozen. I haven't tried to force them. The glass is not as bright as my expensive modern scopes, but I don't see any imperfections, pretty clear considering the age.
The mount is marked: T 32494 The rings are matched and marked 124 & 125
I, or the owner, will be putting this scope up for sale at some point, but first I wanted to take a shot at finding the owner of the rifle to which it was factory matched.

Bought my M1 Carbine in 1966 and now continuing to collect milsurps. Waiting for my M1 Garand from CMP and starting to collect others. Great hobby. This sight is wonderful for the education in collecting.
Hi I am new to this forum. I just purchased a Lee Enfield No4 Mark 1*. I know nothing about this rifle. I got it at an auction. The serial number is 78C4154. Any help Identifying when it was made would be helpful. It appears to be in fairly good condition. Any help on testing and checking it before I attempt to fire it would also be appreciated. Thank you.
