I found Bill Ricca's page:
Small Arms Racks
From that, it looks like either an M1 or M1A1 Small Arms Rack. I'm guessing it's the earlier M1 model since the M1A1 rack is described as being able to hold M14's and my M1A doesn't want to fit (M1 fits perfectly).
I do not know what rack it is but it sure looks nice. Where did you find it? Is there more? I would like a rack like that.
The rack came out of an old high school. Probably was once used by JROTC. It was about to be thrown away so I saved it from going out with the trash!
Oh wow, I was wondering where I put it. I'll stop by and pick it up later. Thanks.
that looks very much like what I remember the racks we had in our barracks during basic training in 1961 at ft. Leonard Wood mo. looked like?
Great find!
Looks like a perfect excuse to buy 19 more Garands. :D
Just like the rack which WAS at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. Alas, the rack, along with 20 M1 Garands is no longer featured in the barracks scene on the third floor.
Did da Prez make them take the garands out? Evil history?
Can't have the grandchildren thinking papa fought the Nazis with GUNS, can we??
