C tip sling on Ebay

I recently bought 6 c tips from this seller.
While searching at that particular time his were the only real ones listed.
But no one was bidding on them.
I made out very well on these.
So many fakes out there,, Guys were paying more for Repro slings than I paid per sling.

Many people pass up authentic C-tip slings on auction sites because they look like they might be 60 years old or something! :lol:

Why buy a C-tip sling that looks old when there are so many 'authentic WWII vintage' C-tips for sale everywhere that are in brand new condition after 60 years? ;)

Well Harlan, now you've let the cat out of the bag! Everyone will be buying those mint/new condition "C" tip slings, leaving only those old, sometimes used looking "C" tips for the rest of us.

Sorry about that John. You'll just have to make due with a sling that looks like it's been around for along, long time and won't be able to get a minty new one to attach to your 60 year old carbines. :crying:

The stockpile of the rare, WWII vintage slings "just discovered in like new condition in a warehouse" with the original and even more rare 'Made in China' labels will sell out now before you can buy one.
"China was our ally in WWII so they must have been a subcontractor for these slings"

Kidding and jokes aside, there was an eBay seller not long ago who was selling many really bad C-tip slings from a crate of slings he'd procured from China or some other country. He'd convinced himself and many buyers that these new condition 'Vintage' slings were from a WWII contract from an Asian country who was an ally during WWII and helping production! :rofl:

They were actually 'Vintage early reproductions' and were the worst I had ever seen.
Heck, he may still be selling them on eBay - I need to search a bit to see if he's still selling them.

I think I remember Bill Ricca tried to tell this eBay seller they were poor fakes at the same time I was trying to sincerely tell him history etc of C-tip slings.
The seller told me didn't know what we were talking about.

Those slings orginally were sold on the web site At the Front, also selling them on eBay. His description matched the current claims.

As I was telling the truth about them on the message boards he posted all sorts of criticism on his website about me and my lack of knowledge of WWII equipment.

The last time I visited the site, his description had changed to "origin unknown", and the price was only $15.00 each.

I wonder who the eBay seller is?

How can he say M-4's are "not terribly expensive" so repos are not worth it, then post a Muzzle cover $6, mag Pouch $15, and sling $15. He must not know that nice M-4's are going for $125 and up. Some way up.

Little does he know that all those plastic handle M4 bayonets coming in the country "new in wrap" are fakes being made in Pakistan. They sell for around $35.00 each.

The wrapper shows an actual contract from the 1960's, which I have been able to isolate and identify. I will not go into the details of why they are fakes, but there are two reasons the bayonets and 3 reasons the contract are just not possible.

Thankfully whoever did the project did not know Army contracts or M4 Bayonets. Unfortunately purchasers are buying them all over the internet, thinking they are legit.

That would explain why a "NEW" plastic handled M4 I tried on a carbine at a gunshop had a handle that was too long. It had a gap between the plastic grip and pommel and hilt both, and barely engaged the end of the muzzle. It just didn't look "right" is why I tried it. I was not aware of the Pakistani bayonets, then, but that would explain it. I knew it would not be a government production one because it would never pass QC checks. I figured it for Chinese

That REAL C TIP sling is getting ready to end in about 90 minutes.
It's just at $45, that's still less than many of the Repro slings sell for.
I remember when we were happy to grab these for twice that not to long ago. Granted marked ones were/are much higher.
I'm tempted to buy it, but with 6 on the way to add to my collection and another carbine on the way. I'd better lay low for a while.

These slings are getting hard to find, especially Original WWII issue.
