Rescue mission anyone?
This is a current ebay listing for a no4 enfield rear sight thats on a T. I suspect that the rifle is being dismantled for parts, but don't know for sure.
Original Enfield No4 MK1T Sniper Rear Sight - eBay (item 110502387217 end time Mar-10-10 17:32:39 PST)
I emailed the seller and its not an A serial but it is a 1941 T rifle, which possibly makes it extra worth rescuing. Its in California I think. I only asked the seller for the A serial and year, I have no other information nor made suggestions about the rifle to the owner.
Happy hunting.

It's a 1941 Maltby with early oval cocking piece. It would be a great shame if it was parted out.

Pity; someone should help "her" to see the light. Oh wait, I'm being naive - "she's" selling the rifle through eBay without violating their 'rules'. ;)
As you can see, the pads are up for sale next! Original Enfield No4 MK1 Sniper Scope Mount Pads - eBay (item 110502383134 end time Mar-10-10 17:16:54 PST)

I emailed her and asked about purchasing the entire rifle. Let's see how she responds. I think I remember her selling a scope and mount recently as well.
-
Yuk. Looks like a roll stamped 1941 ROFM.

Brian B. The scope, can and leather covers recently sold on eBay for $2050.00. There were 19 bidders and the info is still up on eBay's site under item # 110486215747. The ad implied that the scope needed service as the turret screws had been replaced with 3-56 screws and the seller gave a fairly low repair service guessimate of $250.00 as well as a contact. The items look original. The scope is a "CTS". No32MK3 and #21624. It may not belong to the rifle/parts currently being sold and should be clarified with the seller. A 1941 Maltby sniper is well worth recovery/restoration. Keep us posted. Ron

Strikes me as very strange. Why not just put it on "g-broker" so some similar site?

Update,
She emailed me back. She said "I'll see whats left after the auction. I know the rear sight is going to sell".
I guess if I decide to make a run at it, I should buy the rear sight in hopes of rescuing the rifle. At least the pads didn't sell, so they should still be on the rifle.
From a question on the pads listing it sounds like the forend has been chopped.
Let's see what happen.
Brian

Brian B. see what's left. if it's a matched bolt/receiver with the pads and uncut barrel in place you've got a winner. If you get this let me know. I might be able to help you out with a couple correct parts. Ron

I emailed her just before Brin B did and the response she gave me is she won't sell the complete rifle, just parting it out. Such a shame.
