Stripper/chargers for 7.62 Nato

Same as 30-06?

Do the Indians use 5 rounders for the 2A/2A1 series?

I have some 10 rounders that are too unwieldy for quick loading. Would like to have some 5 rounders.

I have a bunch of Mauser clips .... I wonder .......:madsmile:

7.62 NATO uses a 5 round clip. The Canadian ones I have here fit my M1A, FAL and 2A1. :super:
No idea if the Mauser ones will work :dunno:

Well, that was funny.

5 rounds of 7.62 fit nicely - a little loose - but acceptably, on Mauser clips. They fed very nicely into my 2A1.

Funny part is, the rounds didn't strip from the clip ... it went right in with the 5 rounds!! :lol:

Mauser clips are a little 'daintier' than the 7.62 clips. They don't rest on the magazine edge and stay outside the gun.

You've got the wrong clips. Those made for the 7.92mm German 98 and its clones are narrower than those for the 7.62 NATO, and the lugs on the side are placed differently.

#3 is the NATO clip. Note central lugs and wide width as compared to 98 Mauser clips 7 and 8.

Well, that's what I learned. I have about 400 rounds of Turkish 7.92 on clips. Woulda' been nice to use them.

That takes me back to my post above. Are the 7.62 Nato clips the same as 30-06 clips for the 03A3, for instance. My Dad has some of those. I don't see 5 round Nato clips at the shows or on the internet. I guess that's understandable as most 7.62 Nato weapons have been magazine fed autos like M14, FAL etc.

#1 and #2 in the image above are M1903 clips. They are the same width as the 7.62 NATO clip but the lugs are placed differently and the mechanical design is different. The 6.5 and 7mm Mauser clips, #5 and #4, have the same width and design as the NATO clip but lugs like the M1903 clip.

All of the rifles for which these clips were made are "magazine fed". Most are also "clip loading". The shooter loads ammo from the clip into the magazine. The rifle feeds ammo from the magazine into the chamber.

I knew that. :banghead: If I'd stopped long enough to think. I load my AR that way when I have surplus ammo on hand.

That is an amazing resource! I was going to photograph an Indian stripper clip next to a Brit one, for comparison. But that seems redundant now - you've got them all up there.

Incidentally, the current batch of Radway Green that J&G are selling comes in bandoleers that are a slight variation on the Remploy ones that you have on there - velcro fasteners instead of press studs. Would you have any use for a photo / description?

Today at a gun show I bought 10 chargers/clips for FN/FAL. They work fine in the 2A/2A1 Ishis. They are a little tight in the charger bridge but otherwise work just nifty. :thup:
