Is this GHS stamp real?

I have a chance to buy this stock and I only have this picture to go by. It looks to me that the bottom line of the box is too close to the letters and the period for the S is too far down. The leg of the A seems to line up too straight with the top of the H too. The picture is sucky and I just can't really tell. You will have to save-as the picture and zoom in that way. It looks like the crossed cannon stamp is partially there also. It would be nice if a guy could see the clip latch cutout but we can't. The grip cap looks like it has a piece added on the bottom of it, or am I seeing things?

If it is the top stock then no. That stock is not walnut. Other than that, nothing can be seen in this picture.

You can right click and save the picture and then go into your pictures and you can zoom in on the stamp, that's the only way I could zoom in on it.

There is no possible way you can tell if that is real without a close up. You are going to get screwed if you try and I do not trust anyone not showing a close up. Rick B

Rick, how many GHS stocks were made of birch?

I mostly wanted to see what you guys thought about the cartouche. I had it zoomed in with my photo explosion program but it won't save it that way for some reason. When you zoom in you can get a pretty good look at the cartouche, but without seeing at least the clip latch area it would dicey. I do agree with the risk of buying something that you can't actually hold in your hands but when I see things like this I always get a little exited. I don't think the stock is birch, I have a birch stock but I couldn't say if it's walnut either. Her is the close up. I didn't buy it, someone else payed $250 for it.

No Birch made but this is one looks like Walnut. Problem is the S and H are to close together and the bottom line of the box looks to close to the letters. A closer picture would be better. I do not like what I see at this view point. Rick

These stocks look just like the ones sold at armsbid auction in Topeka KS on 3-3-11. If they are the stock in question has been stained (look at the butt plate end). It also looks like it has never had a stock ferrel on it either. I would say it is FAKE but just my guess.

There is a piece glued in on the bottom of the pistol grip.
