Your Welcome.
I refrained from writing too much as it made the pictures too small.
At first when I saw this display at the Action Outfitters Archery and Gun Shop in Melbourne,FL I thought WOW look at all the Rifles. Herb the owner was very gracious to tell me the story of his father( I think he knew I wasn't going to leave until he did) who was a First Sargeant with the 29th 116th on D-DAY.
Like most of the men of that era his dad did not speak much of the war and what they did, to what I believe save the world from a few evil men.
I have tried to blow up the map so we can read some of the important statistics, the battle related stories ,accomplishments and some of the lighthearted tales while on R&R.
The drawings are also really cool. Without this map (found under his fathers bed after his passing) we would probably not have this unique look into that historical past that is D-DAY.

If you look at the group picture the higher ranking men are in the front row the highest in the middle. In the middle look who they thought deserved a special spot in the middle of the 2nd row. That's right the cooks. After all an Army travels on it's stomach. Or is it an Army doesn't travel on an empty stomach.... I don't know the saying, I was Air Force.

Just to bring to your attention the part of the map that shows all the supply's they used. Over 10 million rounds of .30 cal almost 1/2 million .50 cal artillery and wire laid in miles etc...
They even have listed how many gallons of water they purified....that should make the environmentalist who check this site out happy........chuckle ha ha!!

Medals awarded.
I would like to point out the part of the map that list the amount of medals that were awarded.
I don't see any purple hearts or medal of honors listed. Maybe he didn't know or they hadn't known at the time this map was done?? Speculation is always welcome.

I brought this to the top so you could find it easier.
