Well I am the point to where I could sell off some guns, and I trying to find a reason to keep my garand. I want to get into shooting the John Garand matches. I was wanting a link to the rules and regs for these matches. I know this is a longshot but does anyone know of any matches near Charleston WV?

The as issued terms causes a lot of discussion
for example: can you put loctite on a loose front sight screw.
People will even debate what the CMP Armourer tell you.

Its an investment. They dont make 'em anymore and the supply is drying up. So the prices are going up. it will continue to increase in value, plus they are just plain cool & fun to shoot!!!! And historic..

Yeah, keep it. Unless you really really need the money.
Here's the Reason to keep it, redardless of what price you get for it, it will be unlikely you will be able to replace it for the same money later. They are on the RISE price wise!

Personally I would like to be buried with my firearms, but in actuality my boys will probably fight over them.
I got rid of a few guns years ago saying to myself " I'll just replace them later". Well when later came the prices were way up. Now I won't sell off anything unless I have a better one sitting there to replace it.

Seriously, keeping a gun is like keeping a car. If it is nothing more than a tool for you, like an LEO's duty weapon, then it means nothing. Kind of like a toolbox screwdriver.
But Garands don't really fit that category these days, and most people didn't buy them as tools. They bought them as "articles of interest" for themselves as a hobby.
I don't have one, and have wanted one for several years. And personally I don't tend to sell things I bought as "curio items" like this whether they're guns or cameras or LPs. So unless I somehow ended up with multiple Garands I doubt I would be selling it.
But if it is no longer interesting to you, and something else is more interesting, and the Garand is interesting to a purchaser who would enjoy it, frankly I could see selling to a new owner a win/win for both of you.
Just make sure you really want to sell it. Don't do it in haste. Like everyone says, if you want another one later it will cost more than you'll get for the one you sell now.

That being said, if you don't want it anymore, sell it to someone who does. As I told someone, having a gun laying around not being taken care of... is a liability.[COLOR="black"]
