Don't recognise thge TSD initials but the RSG is Returned Stores Group, now named the RSSD - Returned Stores Sub Depot which was always a part of the big Ordnance Depots. FSO is the Freight Shipping Order details. Not necessarily 'shipping' as in ships but more the method of it being moved somewhere

Is there any significance to the chest being painted black? I seem to remember Brian saying something about black chests.
Nope, just down to the idleness of the Arms storeman at a guess. Sniper rifles were usually kept in the chests within the Armoury or if not, with the rest of the assorted crap such as Bren chests and other bozes, just stored elsewhere. A good place was always underneath the firing point of the 25 yard miniature range
Is it just the lighting or has the rear leg of the scope bracket been welded in the area of the serial number?
