Gun Case Find
No books nearby.
My wife came across, what she thought was a soft sided gun case at a estate sale today.
She tried to describe it over the phone.
Only markings, on the back the number 8300 44 2650.
Brass zipper across the top with single snap on the top left.
Also has about a 6" extension sewn on the right end, looks to be a lined felt extension.
White strap sewn on the back, cut on one end.
Measures about 38" wide counting the extension and about 10" tall; closed.
My guess,
Sure smells WWII.
Is this what they called a Griswald for jumpers?
No holes or tears. Zipper works.
I'll try a picture this weekend.
Did she do well for $65 ??
Thx,

Got pics Charlie? The numbers will work for some guys but they don't ring a bell for me...it does sound like a Griswold bag though. The later ones were green...that's what I have.

Charlie, I found this link that talks about something close. Look at post #6 and follow another link from there.

There are 2-3 pictures to "click" on about half way down on the 2nd link. - Bob

Bob,
I can't open those links, new PC set up here.
I can't take pictures until getting our camera back in the morning from my son.
I did find the one the Wife brought home pictured in War Baby II at the very bottom of page 647.
Thx Again,

Jim,
You've got to read on down to post #6 on that page, and "click" the link there. It gets tougher after that, but you should be able to find about 3 pictures of one like Charlie's. It doesn't have the extension on it, though. - Bob

I went through all that and the only thing is Griswold bags that are shorter, the one pictured is later and longer. There are pics of the carbine holster for the M1A1s...unless he has the case for the M1 carbine with full stock. He's going to post pics tomorrow though, it still sounds like a Griswold bag that's been modified.

Howdie Jim,
Like the bottom version, but with matching material on the extension and different number.
Also a extra sewn strap on the front.
I'll try pics.
