Hello all
I'm new here and new to Enfield's even though I just received two of them.
NO1 MKIII 1942 has the thumb safety on the left side of the receiver.
The one I'm working on NO1 MIII Sparkbrook 1985 has no safety.
I just sourced a striker cocker with the safety on it.
Need help if this will work on this rifle and which way I can make it work.

This receiver has the hole there but it is for a volley sight as far as I can tell.
I meAnt 1895 for the Sparkbrook NO 1 MK III
That rifle is not a No. 1 Mk. 3, but a No. 1 Lee Enfield. The safety for it is on the bolt not on the receiver.
Not a No1 at all, the No 1 designation only applies to the SMLE & then not all SMLEs are No1s.Quote:

If marked SPARKBROOK 1895 II* (the difference between a II & II* is the safety on the cocking piece) or SPARKBROOK 1895 LE1 then it did have a safety on the cocking piece.
Not Sparkbrook made rifles but other than the factory name & the year the markings are the same.

The cocking piece safety requires a different bolt with a rear extension.

That's what I thought.
So would the firing pin ( striker) be longer also. 1/2 inch or so longer
Do you have on of these with the safety on the cocker??
You are right. To many changes in this beast for me to grasp in one sitting.
I just check mine again. See picture.
I have the cocker I bought with the safety on it.
I though I could use it but when it got here 2 days ago I realize it would not,
made for a different bolt.

Your rifle is a 1895 MLM (Magazine Lee Metford) MkII, it never had a safety & the bolt shown in your first photo is correct for that rifle & yes the firing pin is longer.Quote:

I have not found one anywhere.

Here is my story if you do bot mind. Food for though. LOL
I'm making a rail gun of it.
I have a small gunsmith shop here in Canada PEI. Out in the middle of the ocean.
I got a hold of this rifle, receiver and bolt, barrel shot, worn, will make a 410 of it.
I also got a hold of a NO4 MK1 and barrel on it great. Just the receiver and barrel.
Took the barrel off of the NO 4 put it on the NO 1 even though I new the head space would be out a bit. It was but still got of 4 rounds @ 75 feet, 3 in a 2 inch hole.
So I though I would keep going as a target rifle but there was no safety.
So I carried o to see what I could do.
I never worked on and enfield or fired on, not many where I live.
I think I could make the cocker with the safety work.
I can extend another sticker, and the bolt end, but can not find a picture of the bolt anywhere and what I'm dealing with or how the safety engages what ever it does to be a safety.
What a trip with enfield.
Would you have picture of the bolt or any help or just say I lost my mind. LOL
Some body built these beasts and I'm sure we can rebuild them
