Mauser m38 front sight height question

I just got a m38 and it shoots low, about 3"-4" at around 100 yards. On the badge on the stock that tells the condition of the bore it has one part that says: Overslag 1 Str, which I believe means you need a 10 cm hold over at 100 yards, and that makes sense because 10 cm is about 3.9 inches. But I don't like having to guess how much to hold over so how much taller of a front sight would I need to get it dead nuts? The one it has now has a +05 stamped on the front sight base and on the sight blade and together they measure 0.564" or 14.3mm tall from the top of the barrel. Any help would be appriciated.

I also just measured the sight blade and it is 7.5 mm so I need one that's a little shorter. Then I looked on numrich and there are a bunch of sights but there are a few for every height and they are all stamped different. Do I need to get another one that is stamped +0.5 like mine? Does anyone know what that stamp means because on numrich there is one that's 7.5 mm like mine then there's another one that's 6 mm and they are both stamped +0.5? Could it be the size of the dovetail in cm because the one for my sight is 5 mm/0.5cm?

This only pertains to Swedish service ammunition. First thing to do before mucking about with the sights is to get a good supply of ammo that the rifle shoots well then make the necessary changes to get POI where you want it. For now just raise the rear sight a notch or two.
And BTW, don't pay those disc markings any attention. They are easily changed and I've heard of people swapping them out to fool an unsuspecting buyer into believing the bore was in better shape than it actually is. There is no way of telling if it's original to the rifle or not and even if it is the data was only current at it's last in service inspection.

I know the disc thing is probably wrong because the bore doesn't look as bad as it says it should, but the hold over seems right, probably just a coincidence. I am gonna wait and get some decent ammo before I mess with the sights, but I just wanted to know what I would need to do if the sights are still off.

Do you reload?

The ballistics of the Swedish M41 round can be closely duplicated with the 140gr-142gr Sierra MK's at 2600-2650fps.
Does your M38 have this type rear sight? The small set screw allows you to fine tune the POI a bit without changing the FS blade.

Yeah my sight looks just like that, but it looks like the set screw is just to keep the slider from coming off when you slide it back, I'll take a closer look at it. And I would think the bullets I have now would shoot higher because they are 139gr FMJ, not sure of the fps.

Hanson 139gr 6.5X55 was a little sluggish compared to the M41 Swedish service ammo. The MV was something like 300fps less, IIRC.

Ok so that makes sense. I'll probably just keep the sight on the 200 meter slot until I can start reloading or get some faster ammo. How's that Prvi Partizan ammo?
