Depends on the availability of barrels and receivers and cost.
Sarco & Apex have flats & barrels in the works. I hope someone picks up the kits & converts the as they did with the Suomi M31 as I think tooling up to build 1 would not be very econimical.
Ask & you shall recieve. HMGâ„¢ CETME L (Fall/winter 2015) | Hill Mac Gunworks
The trouble with these is you don't know exactly what you are getting into. Will the semi-auto receiver work with the parts kit? I never got a soumi because of that uncertainty and looking into them, it's quite an ordeal to get them to function. A soumi kit would end up as a wall hanger with jb weld with all the additional stuff needed for it and I'm not that bad with guns.
The Soumi is a pretty easy build compared to a Cetme. The problem is getting the Cetme receiver right. Some people bend the flats over a round bar, but you really need a good bending jig and a press to do it right. I haven't looked to see if anyone is selling 922(r) parts for the L.
If you are going to buy the gun, you might consider getting a parts kit now. Once they dry up there will be no spare parts available.
You built a Soumi? If it's doable, I'd like to do it but my investigations seemed to indicate it was a major deal. Kits still available for a bit over $100. They sell what they claim to be complete receivers for under $200 so it would be a bit over $300 for a complete rifle if that's all you need.
No I bought one of the TNW ones just before they were gone. In my nonexpert opinion Vincent is correct the Suomi is much more shade tree gunsmith friendly than the CETME L. Compliant parts, semi FCG,sheet metal reciever all put it beyond my ability. The CETME L sure looks interesting however.
Yes, sort of. I used two parts kits and got the other parts here HellBox Armory: Suomi M-31/ KP-31 and some from other guys on Weapons Guild. I just welded it together.
You can find everything you need to know about building a Suomi on weaponsguild.com.
There are a couple of TNW complete receivers on GunBroker.com right now.
No luck getting into weaponsguild. I'd try it if I thought I had a reasonable chance of success. If I get a kit with a cut receiver and a complete receiver, is that all I need or will I need tools, machining, more parts, etc?
