Hi All,
There are a bunch of semi-machined rec'r kits out there. What is expected of someone who buys and completes one of these? Obviously they are not considered a "gun" when sold and there would be no serial number. Can a US citizen own a hand-built firearm without any gov't interference?

Simply, Yes.
You are expected to know and follow the laws that govern what you can build. In addition to the federal laws, some states have more restrictive laws.Quote:

You can build it and own it but transferring it becomes an issue.
I thought about it and just went the completed receiver route. If confiscation ever becomes an issue, mine will be transferred before it can take effect.

John Q Citizen can not own any 'UNREGISTER' machine gun. If he builds one it can not be registered.
