Earlier this year I picked up another no4 T with transit chest for what I thought was a fantastic price for todays' market. Anyway, I wanted to shoot this one with the intention of bringing it to the CMP Anniston games. I could not figure out why I could not get good groups out of it as the first 7-10 rounds were on ok but not perfect, then rounds would start flying 4-5 inches away from the group. Hand loads are used and normally MOA or less from my other T's. On inspection of the action screws, scope mounting screws, turrets for windage and distance; all seemed good. Finally my friend noticed the front hand guard was moved forward enough, touching the front sight. We repositioned the front hand guard and voila... the weapon is spot on even through 20 continuous rounds with a hot barrel. Also the groups are now submoa. I have to assume when the barrel heated up, the front hand guard put just enough pressure on the barrel to throw rounds off the aim point making my afternoon very frustrating. An important lesson on minor things causing major problems. I love my T!
