Hi Guys
I have the opportunity to buy a Rem 1903 Ser 33439xx barrel 10-42 for 300$. Its mostly there, chopped cross bolt stock. Stamped middle band, stamped floor plate . What would correct stock type and metal? Harrisons book indicates milled hardware ,stock pins . Seems the big suppliers are out of all 03/A3 parts. Could a repro C type stock fit?

Except for a milled upper band, all parts on that Remington should be stamped. Harrison's book is in error. A repro C type stock should fit the rifle although, as with any reproduction stock, some custom hand fitting may be necessary.

As long as there are no alterations to the barreled receiver, $300 is an OK price to start. Good luck
Thanks for the info.. the big suppliers have sanded 03 stocks with cross bolts or should i just go for a C type repro ? Also anyone have milled Rem upper band and swivel /screw ?

Recently I got my replacement 1903 stock from North Ridge, It was advertised as GI post war replacement . When comparing it to the original cut down . The replacement seemed much lighter and dimensions slightly thinner . Is this normal for a government replacement? I spoke to the folks at North Ridge and was assured the stock was as received from govt and not sanded .
The 175 and 195 priced stock both say sanded. If you paid for the more expensive stock (500) than I would call them.
I did .It was the 395.00 one ,now 495.00. they said thats how they got them. I got the post war"unissued"one with cross bolts because thats what style was on the rifle although cut down. And I was told that was correct for my serial#. I just found it weird that the original even though cut at second band ,seems so much heavier. While on subject .Anyone know the difference between Sarco and Numrich type C repros?
