Is there a picture?
yes sure
That one is outside of my wheel house, I'm not familiar with those markings. Maybe an expert will chime in. I'm not as familiar with foreign or commercial made barrels if that's what it is. I don't know what the Beretta and Breda barrel markings look like and I believe the Danish made VAR barrels say so. I just plain don't know on this one.
There should be markings under the lower handguard too. On top of the barrel...
These are the only marks present. The top of the barrel have no markings
Looks like a possible Danish replacement barrel .
If it is an M1D issued by the US than there will be a drawing number ending in 555. If this is a Danish replacement M1D barrel than no drawing number. The barrel looks like it has a Danish crown to the right.
Lots of things can happen to a rifle post-service. From the moment it hits the surplus market people can rebarrel, replace parts (very popular with the American arms to try and create 'correct' rifles) etc. Not saying it is or isn't just that once it hits the market anything can happen.
