I learnt today on real life machines there is a set of wedges 4 per wheel that hold them in position to the torsion bar axles it's also on the Tiger I, II, Jagdtiger & Panther.
This must have been a nightmare in the field with battle damage and mud build up the poor tankers and service staff.

There were only @400 of these TD's built in one engagement 3 of them knocked out 10 Churchills in a matter of 2 minutes.
One was destroyed by their crew as it had battle damage, the other was abandoned intact with track damage thus the allies got hold of a new adversary to evaluate.

Looks like fun! The internal politics with the Wehrmacht and Heintz Guderian on tank destroyers were fascinating.

I follow these guys every Wednesday on you tube I followed the Jagdpanter all the way, if you see what they had to do the Tiger 1 you would scratch your head at just how talented the crew is at this museum.
Its on my bucket list for 2024 to go there by that time the Grant will be done as well but to see the rebuilt Panther done by the Comptom boys and all else that's there its got to be one of the best collections in Australia so I'm going to make the effort.

Its a place where you can get up close and personal to the machines obviously no climbing but to be able to physically touch them raises the bar of the whole experience and we know they are not filled with concrete.
Since the APC was stolen years ago in Perth and run amok smashing cars and things our state has become paranoid over anything military looking, never found out how the person was able to steal the APC from the pool area.
Bit like that chap in the USA who stole that M-60 tank and bellied it on a traffic divider.
Question - are Abrhams and say Strikers ready to roll or are those that are combat ready kept separated from the pool (Staging!) area and under close guard.

Well, if it's serviceable, all you need is to break the padlock securing the driver's hatch and start it up...and drive it away. I drove one for years, sometimes you can jump on the commander's hatch and it'll pop.

I think now days security would be tighter than a drum Jim.

Here is a real doosey for you years ago a certain Aussie rules football player retired here in the west who had a substance problem and his life really ran off the rails badly.
So one fine night he decided for what ever reason to break into the boundary fence over or under don't know of all places would you believe the SAS Regiments base here at Swanbourne.
I mean seriously these boys don't eff about mamby pamby like say the police would you'd have to have a rock in your head replacing your brain! thankfully security caught him and not one of the troop!
That's the last place on this rock that I would ever go uninvited period !

Even with that, things can happen.

I subscribe to The Australian Armor & Artillery Channel as well as The Tank Museum & The Chieftain, it's how I spend my spare time instead of what's on television.

Watched allot of the Chieftains Hatch lots of interesting tanks out there think one was a Russian Project 7, the Maus in Russia was interesting even though just a hollow tank.
I like have said follow Plasmo & Andy's Model Shop in building models good tips, some of Plasmo's works are exceedingly well above professional I recommend watching the series he did building the Yamato OMG what attention to detail on such a huge model.

I'll post some more pic tomorrow as not much has happened I mean boring as pics of road wheels being assembled and painted!

So here is the model before getting the base coat of dark green Dec '44 onwards they received the dark green base instead of dark yellow, I've done a late version as you can see the compartment heater for the crew on the left rear hull of the model and flame dampening exhaust stacks.
The early versions did not have this raised unit, so Dk green base followed by a coat of lacquer clear then the dark yellow and red brown break up camo at that point it will be doing the washes, pin lining weathering and chipping so still a ways to go but if you want it to look good takes time.
You can see a bit on chipping on the rear fighting compartment hatch this will allow you to peer in and see the 1/35 scale case I'll put in the breech as if a live round is being loaded.
Still got the periscopes to do, side skirts, all the tools, wheels, tracks, gotta hand build the towing cables and so on. Thx for your time chaps more to follow.
