Hi

Will do. Love to see your scope, if you get a moment to take any pics.
Depending on the type of mount your scope comes with there would be different scope pouches for it. Hence it would be important to see the scope to know which pouch is the correct type.
I've been provided pictures of the scope by the owner via mail. It is mounted to a super nicely made SMLE action rifle (actually looks like a LEC was the basis?) with the scope tube being engraved to George Gibbs of Bristol. The scope itself without much doubt is a former military scope, 1916 date and 70xxx - but reused on a commercial hunting rifle. It seems it was reused in 1937 since the scope tube has a 15-5-37 engraving under initials.
I hope the rifle will remain the way it is and not be separated from its scope, because it is a truly masterful made gun of high quality that must had cost the owner a fortune and still is a sought after item.
It's probably an ex Purdey mounted Aldis fitted to a Lee Speed in 1937. I suspect the initials are probably those of the then owner. (I had an opportunity to see the photo's as well). Very pretty set up.
The short magazine and the rear sight made me believe it is rather a carbine than a Lee Speed, but what do I know on these old horses ;) . Maybe OP could clarify whether he has a rifle or a carbine? Agree on the initials. I hope he posts it in here too.
I think different barrel lengths were available.
I would really appreciate it if one of the contributors could post some pictures of the rifle here as it is in my area of special interest these days - thank you.
Some photos.
Must be a rare rifle as in all my years collecting I only seen one other George Gibbs lee speed with a scope attached.
Optics are perfect.

Would you mind sharing an additional picture showing this great rifle in full length?
Edit: @Rowdy, the OP in the meantime did this anyway. I would not had dared to post his pictures in his thread unless given permission. That is why I wrote earlier that I hope he posts those in here too.
