One more down

Calling this one done the 1/35th scale 12.8cm German WWII A/T cannon modeled in it's firing position with the bogies raised & foot plates all around.
This was a very fiddly build the bogies carriers gave me the most grief along with the traverse shafts they are so thin......
I started this a while ago and became frustrated with it so went back for a few more AFV's and better experience level so she is done & dusted.

In real life I should imagine this piece would be huge and it's lethality to AFV's rather intimidating but a rather big unit to set up & not that mobile.
From memory it was 2 piece ammo and could at a pinch fire with the bogies down and side sponsons deployed but not recommended.
This is the same weapon the Germans put into the Jagdtiger again to little to late but you would not have wanted to face this thing even in a Super Pershing.

You never cease to amaze me with the incredible detail you are able to recreate in your models. I've enjoyed putting models together over the years and have struggled to get decals put on straight! I had a wonderful spinster aunt who passed on her love of modelling to me 65 years ago when as a child I helped her with a B24 and B29 model. My first attempt by myself was putting together an Airfix Supermarine Walrus and struggled greatly with the wing struts. My first passion in modelling was aircraft and before long the ceiling in my bedroom was the scene of a never ending dogfight between Fokker DVIIs and Albatross D.IIIs vs SPAD S.VIIs and Sopwith Camels with the odd P38 Lightning or Spitfire making an extemporaneous pass through the brouhaha. Unfortunately very few models survived Hallowe'en as firecrackers were still legal in Canada back then and the urge to blow stuff up was overwhelming, a personal trait I ascribe to my eventually joining the Engineers.

Never lose the enjoyment of the building models it's a journey full of fun and battles (Carpet or tile monsters).
It matters not one iota a modelers skill level it's the journey to the end product and self satisfaction that is the key as I am sure the designers make things nigh impossible just to tweak one's senses of frustration.
I had to overcome a real situation with this model that took some nutting out because it had me pulling my hair out and @&%$###@!~$#@ just about every swear word in the Australian dialect and then some!

So here is what I was up against in the build with the bogies I left the wheels off till the very last; so the bogies and subsequent pieces were assembled and this assy locates on an upper & lower arm assy by means of 4 plates that sit on locating nubs each side of the arms 4 per arm, Ok right! Plates 35, 36, 37, 38 see instructions pic.
These plates locate on the nubs but are not to be glued what you have on the two bogie tubes is grooves top & bottom that these 4 plates locate into to be glued to, so the whole assy can raise & lower as in transport & firing positions so you cannot glue those 8 points.
The plates are not a friction fit on the arms so how do you hold 4 plates on 8 stubs and get it all glued into 4 grooves on the bogie frame rear, yeah it frikin' did my head in the plates dropped off, impossible to line it all up took me a while but I managed to do it.
How then ! glue the inner 2 into position let the glue set up o/night then skew the outer ones in holding it with a dab of glue in the top groove then with the flat end of a paint stirrer push and slide the plate across till it locates fully in the groove and onto the 2 outside arm nubs then glue the plate fully into position in the grooves.

And that is how modeling can turn you inside out whilst making you think outside the box plus there was a very high chance of the whole thing breaking under the force I used to which point it would be consigned to a blown up wrecked diorama.

Well here is the next one which I was shying away from a Meng, as their kits are renowned for being complicated builds !

So I asked my wife what should I build another King Tiger July 1945 (Says that on the box) or the Panther, she asked how many 1/35th scale Tiger tanks have you built 8 I said, how many 1/35th scale Panthers have you built 1 !

Build the Panther then ??????????

I have an engine getting here today to help power a tank or ?? This afternoon a Cison V8 1/6 scale is getting dropped off. I've seen build times stating 2 to 4 hours up to a 12 hour build. No painting just lot and lots of small parts to bolt together. But looks like and should run like a V8.

May we both enjoy the builds. In my case, may it also run at the end.

Cinders -- you did a great job with your 12.8cm Cannon, LOOK the paint work.

Update a bit of progress wheels started & bottom hull done Red/Brown primed this was the Germans base coat before the application of dark yellow or desert yellow the tanks cammo was usually done at unit level.

Next progress report will be awhile as the tracks are a real mission on this one exactly like the 1/16th scale Tiger 1 I did earlier......but bl**dy smaller I can see wars with the tile monster approaching!
