I picked this up the other day at a garage sale. I did some research on the latch company and it said that they once worked with the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft company and utilized their entire production towards the WWII war effort. The White house part intrigued me as well but I could not for the life of me find any information. The folks I bought it from knew nothing about it but I have a thing for storage containers so I just had to have it. :)
I don't know definitively, but that looks modern to me. Those recessed chrome handles and latches don't look old at all to me. If that is felt inside, then I would say it is less than 20yrs old. At my work we move electronics around all the time, and our current boxes are blow molded Hardigg cases. Previously we had a local company custom build sets of boxes to a set of agreed drawings. That company used black hard but somewhat cushiony foam linings. It isn't a hard stretch to think they would have used thick felt if they could have gotten away with it.
'Whitehouse' could be a previous owners name.

Those carry handles and latches look cadmium plated and in like new condition. Very interesting. I like the film roll canister storage idea best.
