Who said that education is free.
Research takes but a few minutes on the web.
No time? No info.......
I too hate to see folks taken in, but it's a cruel world out there.
A few minutes of research on the the same medium that took him to George's site would also have told him what he was getting into.
And remember, some folks don't really care.........
That 'Couple Boxes of Inherited Parts' seems to be going a long way!!
I bought a type III push safety from No Guts......as soon as I picked it up...I knew it was a fake.

Here's a $30 repro UI band that No Guts has up for auction. It's at $145............OUCH !!

I've learned a bunch of sites to avoid, but when faced with an actual part I'm usually at a loss.
(I usually buy on trust.)
I'm ignorant on such things, but that one seems to me to be fairly well done.
The only thing that makes my alarm bells ring is "This looks like a very nice Type 1 Band, 3 weld and marked "UI"."
No flush cuts etc.
New build vs. cut down?
Type 1 bands were never cut downs. The type 2 can be made by cutting down a type 3 band. If you look at a real type 2 band the inner ring is recessed and not flush. If you find one that both rings are flush then it's a cut down type 3. This band he is selling is fresh from China. Looks good but it's a fake from the start. Good old George strikes again.
Thanks, Bruce...
And I guess that just makes the importance of knowing the dealer all the more important.
As I stated before, just a little research will tell a lot about your vendor. It just seems a shame that so few people take the time to do a search before plunking down their dollars. We try to get the word out, but how many buyers really care?
Thanks for your reply.
Brian, are you ever gonna write all this stuff down for publication????
Phil
Guys like George are the reason I'd rather try to buy (or trade) parts with members of forums like this one. I can't say enough about how I've benefitted from just scanning the replies from the "regulars" here to questions from those less knowledgeable. I for one really appreciate that. :-)
Anyone else notice the S'G' stock sold on ebay for $535? It comes from Modesto, I feel sorry for the buyer. That's a lot of money.
Good ol' George at work again!
Good ol' George at fraud again!
I had a dealing with him soon after I bought my first carbine and it was horrible.
Could not believe the stories he came up with not to refund a $20 bogus part. He sent nasty demeaning emails, threatened my feedback, told me I have mental issues etc.
(Well, he might be correct on the last one!) :D
Good old George got away with using a hatfull of pseudonyms and lying like a rug all the way back to the original Mark Bitting Carbine Collectors Forum.
His gold plated giveaway is the fact that the lying SOB just can NOT spell.
He and that Iain M'Hoir POS put poor mark into an early grave and I sincerely hope that all that bad karma puts George and Mitzi too, into some dire straits.
MOST amazing is the salient fact that NONE of the so called 'auctions' do anything to put these swine OUT OF BUSINESS.You can complain all you want but just so long as fleabay,AA and GB get their vig they could really give a rats fanny.Goerge and Mitzi shift a lot of phony crap at stupidly high prices to the unwary. The more they sell their fraudulent wares for the MORE the 'auctions' get paid. So,do NOT expect them to take the honest or high road anytime soon.
You can also look at the OIL Companies and their never ending lies and chicanery about WHY they MUST RIP US ALL OFF WITH never ending price increases.Remember that Lowsyanna Hurricane last fall that NEVER HAPPENED but because the big oil thieves were HOPING it would hit the Gulf Coast they just raised the pump price by about 15 cents a litre and left it there for about 3 weeks AFTER the non-hurricane.Everyone complained but nothing happened.Ol Georgie boy was lookin out fer his pals from the Petroleum Club wasn't he ?
yeah, yeah, yeah, I know and I used to sell pumps to the oil industry until I got smart and went solo..JR
