Jim,
From my experience I would say that nearly all the Sales variation 1922M1 and M2 Rifles are on the list. Very few, percentage wise, of the Issue variation are listed. Some confusion is caused by Springfield Armory starting over with serial number one when the 1922M1 was introduced and again with serial number one when the M2 rifle was introduced. The SRS list will show if it is a 1922, 1922M1, M2 or 1922MII. Of course most of the 1922MII's will have a B after the serial number but the B will not appear on the SRS list. One must specify which model is being researched. For instance number 555 could be listed three times, once as a 1922, once as a 1922M1 and once as an M2.
Even thought commonly called "Trainers", the 1922 series were called "Gallery Practice Rifles" by the military. They were NOT used for training of military recruits. There WERE used for training ROTC cadets and members of DCM affiliated rifle clubs. I was trained on one when I tried out for the college ROTC rifle team in 1955.
This is a very specialized niche of collecting and one for which much misinformation appears on the gun forums.
Wow...thanks for that Herschel, I've learned something new today:bow:
To Da CSP 1903 Shooter, darn numbers all around mine....so close...:bitch:
Jim
Frank, Your rifle isn't listed but is REAL close to a USMC issued rifle.

Thanks for the information on my rifle. How do I get a letter? And what does the letter add to the value? The rifle is not for sale.
You contact Springfield Reasearch Service (they have a website) and you have to subscribe to their magazine ("Martial Arms Collector" - it is a good one). Cost of their letter for a DCM sales rifle is in the $60-70 range.
Can anyone please check SRS for M2 rifle, serial #17383.
It would be much appreciated...

Any info on a sr# 14599b
I have two Springfield M1922II one is serial # 1756B and the other is 2318B. Great Rifles to shoot. Any record in the SRS on either of them?
Thanks in advance.
--fjruple
No hit on either number. There are serial numbers close to 1756 that were issued to high schools. If it is drilled and tapped for scope blocks it may have originally been a DCM Club Issue rifle.
Thanks Hershel. They are pretty clean guns. 1756B has a matching bolt and 2318B does not. I acquired both of them from a long time Army NG competitive shooter back in the 1990s.
--fjruple
I've an unmessed with (albeit well used) M1922 serial number 1362. Any match?
Nothing on 1922 #1362. Two close numbers #1348 and #1360 were shown as 1922 International Match riles that were shipped from SA to the International Rifle Team on 5-27-24.
Thank you!
I have 9347B.
If you guys aren't out of patience yet, could you check the following guns?
1922 #403 NRA type stock
1922M1 #19546 NRA type stock
M2 #5569 service stock
Thanks in advance. Dokcop
#19546 is listed as having been sold as a 1922M1 with an NRA Stock. The other two are not listed in my SRS books.
This is interesting!
Could I ask you to see if M1922MI1, 10054B is listed?
!922MII Springfield #10054B is not on my SRS list.
