Rear Sight ... Can someone help me ID this?

Hello to everyone. I've searched all my reference material but can't find anything on this sight. It is marked T. I on the right side (there is no sign of a period after the I under magnification). The left is marked 86 11 It is on a 6 digit 335,xxx Inland that sure looks like an arsenal rebuild to me but I can't find a single mark referring to a rebuild. Any help is greatly appreciated. If my memory serves me right, it's either a Korean or Japanese part. I want to say it's Tonkin (something like that) Industries, but don't quote me on that. I'm sure that somebody will come up with the correct answer. One thing I'm sure of is that it's not a USGI part.

The T.I marked type 2 rear sights are on the rare side. As to who made them and when has yet to be discovered. Yours is the third one I have seen. All of the numbers on the left side have been different. hth

Hey that is great news as about a year ago no one knew where they came from. Thanks Brian.

I have an Inland with a rear sight marked T.I. also. My carbine came from the old CMP back in the early sixties. My question is is this some sort of rebuild or just one that CMP stuck on there?

My records show Tong Industries in business from early 1970's thru circa 1992-93.

Either some of your facts are off, or I have more research to do.

BTW we know of Tong Industries for over 10 years, so this information is not new.

I don't know as an IBM I had came with one and it was not a Korean import. I asked about this sight a couple of years ago on the old Jouster site and it was maker unknown and a little over a year ago someone else asked on the old site and was told the maker was still not known. It's a well made type 2 sight and as good as any USGI.

Just because someone that did not know what the marking was posted it was an unknown maker does not mean nobody knew. Alls it means is they didn’t know and those that did either chose not to respond or did not see the thread.

As Bill said the sight was known for quite some time now. A lot of Korean made parts and accessories have found their way into the US unattached to Korean Imports.

I had one marked T. I. that was on an Inland as well. It was a mixmaster and I never thought much about it, but it was on an Inland if it makes any difference.

I looked through 'billions' of my photos last night but couldn't find a photo of it. I'll keep looking in my old photo folders though.
My (Now EX) wife pawned ALL my carbines while we were separated so I can't go look in my safe for it anymore to take a new pic.
(Just found out last week that she got a whole $200 - $300 each for them, along with other good collectable rifles/pistols):crying:
