I'm almost embrassed to post this - manscaping

On another forum there was a joke thread entitled " manscaping " basically some crazy stuff doing a parody on hair removal, etc. Although I enjoyed the thread for the laughs I never had any thing to add to it, but I found out a real neat trick.:madsmile:

Many of the guys here are probably older and like myself have built up big calluses (sp) on thier feet, especially thier heels. In the summer these become an extra burden as they tend to crack, get filled up with dirt and basically become a problem for the fast approaching hunting season, when we need to do a lot more walking.

Well the ladies spend endless hours bent over, sanding with special gizmos they get from expensive salons. My wife has a little thing called a " Pediegg" which she bought on the internet. It looks like a pink egg but comes apart and has a rough surface.

Well guys, if you are like me you simply cannot be bothered to spend endless hours bent over working on your feet. My brother inlaw told me his secert last weekend while we were at the cabin.:dunno:

A palm sander and 150 grit paper.

Works like a hot damn !!!! In about 5 minutes I took 50 odd years of calluses off my heel yesterday. No more cracks, etc. Took all that dirt off from wandering around in sandals all summer too.:thup:

Some smart guy might want to market palm sanders in camo and make a fortune.:) I can imagine the creams and lotions you could create for men , "Channel Diesel " or " Hoppes #9". A whole new market place, remember me when you make your fortune.:bash:

So there you go, Dick and Gloria said this is the " Cracker Barel " forum and I believe when it comes time to vote for the most ' off topic' thread in Gun Talk in 2009 I will have placed a strong contender with this one.:super:

Hi Ken, just laughing about this, but O.K. there is a lot of truth in it. The other side is, if you sanded down your heels you need smaller shoes. So is it possible that your brother in law is an owner of an shoe shop ?

Sir, no offense or anything, but this seems like a good way to get yourself an uncomplimentary headline on the TV news. "Local dumb@$$ shreds his own feet with a power sander--film at 11!"

There ain't no way in "hail" I'm letting a running power tool get anywhere near my bare feet.

Hi Ron,

Naturally the same thought occurred to me and I was some what hesitant. So I started with a piece of sandpaper which was worn out.

Now remember I said a " Palm Sander " not a " Belt Sander " nor a " Grinder ". You basically get a little tickling is all. Being a tradesman and working with industrial tools my whole life I have a very healthy respect and a few scars from using these tools.

Hence I would not suggest this if I felt it was dangerous. If you have ever used a " Palm Sander " you would know that if these things accidently touch your hand you don't lose any fingers.

So although caution is the way of the wise for sure I doubt that I will be given the Darwin " dumb@$$ " award fot this one. Maybe for some of the other stuff I've done, but I feel safe with this one.

Mind you I guess those who are not familar with power tools would be wise to avoid this form of " Manscaping " as if used long enough and hard enough and if the smoke and heat didn't raise any flags, yes indeed you might be able to make the news.

So I take it that you are not interested in any of " KTK's Manscaping Salon " franchise opportunities?:madsmile:

Sir, I apologize for the unnecessarily harsh tone of my post. If you're willing to use power tools on your feet, you're a braver man than I.

FWIW, I've trimmed my fingernails with sidecutters and a flat mill file, but that's about as far into the rollaway as I'm willing to go for personal hygiene.

Or another choice for those of you brave enough to venture into the ladies realm of beauty products. Revlon, yes Revlon, makes a product specifically for removing the callusus from your feet and it works very well. Kind of like a Smith's sharpening steel it is two sided, rough and fine, and the handle is angled so you don't even have to bend over as much a few minutes while watching the ball game or reruns of Band of Brothers and your calluses are gone and we all know how much of a pain cracked and bleeding calluses can be.

I use pumice, the whitish stone-like stuff that comes out of volcanos. It's a rather ancient way to remove rough spots on the skin. A bit smaller than a bar of soap, it's also excellent for scrubbing off the urea crystals that form on the toilet; pumice is softer than porcelain and won't scratch it, but harder then those crystals. Other advantage is, it requires no electricity, though I suppose you could strap it to your sander if you're really into power.

The pumice stone I use goes back at least thirty years or so and it shows every sign of lasting far longer than I will.

I don't know if it's still carried in drug stores; like Witch Hazel, it's pretty much unknown among the younger generations.

If your store doesn't carry one, then root around in your nearest volcano. Just avoid the magma chamber and pyroclastic flows.
