Stamped, no holes in the feet. Hum, could this just be a missed production step?
It has hard to tell from the pictures, but the bottoms give it an appearance of being machined.
2nd pic, looks like the holes were filled.
Nope they were not filled in or welded. The final punch of the holes was only a partial as you can see in this picture. Rick B
And Mr. Hollinger you are correct on this part. Rick B
You mean I got one right??? :dancingbanana:
It is not fake, you have to look at the photos and you can see it was not welded
You may be right and you may be wrong, I'm just not sure. I can't tell if the hole is coming through from the camera lighting and flash or if it's a light stamp that didn't make it through. I guess you are right though, no reason to fake a part like that because it isn't worth anything anyhow. Neat find though.
#1, I did look at the photos.
#2, look at the first pic. The left side does look like a light stamping for sure, but the right side looks like it was either filled/welded shut, or it had a high spot or flaw, and was ground down slightly. Hence the horizontal marks.
You have to admit, the right foot doesn't really look like a light punch hit, it doesn't to me anyways. Not arguing with what is obviosly the truth of the matter, but that's the way I saw it.
Either way, like Rick mentioned earlier, there's no reason to fake a flat, stamped band anyways.
Keep 'em coming, Rick, I like a mystery.
There is another Quiz up that no one is answering yet. Take a shot at this one,, Quiz #4 - Military Surplus Collectors Forums Thanks,,Rick B
