No 32 scope look a like.

Hi guys

I am new to this forum. Been looking for a while. I have a few Lee Enfield 303's. One I am looking at doing the Sarco "T" mount conversion to and am looking for a scope that is as close as posssible to an original. I would love to get an original but they are too expensive and really belong on a rifle with the correct history.

The rifle in question is a No 4 mk 1 built last year by Lawrence Ordenance from old unused parts..... no history to this rifle so I feel its ok to do the changes. Also it shoots really well. Just over .5 MOA.

I have a lathe and Mill so I will be able to make some bits to help dress up a scope to make it look the part.

Any help would be great.

I use a Weaver K4. Not exact, but better than the Tasco my repro-T had on it when it arrived.

I have had a look at the Weaver K2.5 and that looks like a better match. Anyone tried one of these.....

I saw a very good likeness done by a clever lad using an old No42 or 53 as a start. He mounted it onto his rifle using a set of adjustable mounts and then fabricated a VERY good replica range and deflection turret/drum set-up that he soft soldered to the tube and screwed onto that a set of old range and deflection drums

It LOOKED like a No4T and scope but close up it was just a very useable and presentable rifle that he used as a range rifle. No internal R and D adjustments of course but looked pretty good all the same.

No 42 or 53. what make would those be?

Brit made artillary scopes that have the same body but no adjustments, they depend on a movable mount if you had it on a rifle, which would take away from your T look., I may be able to help with one, I'll know in a day or so, just waiting to hear back from a buddy.

BTW look at ebay under vintage scopes, lots of 60's era scopes have forward turrets and might do for you, you might get some ideas there.They're also cheap.

There's also a russian made one thats been used often and is for sale all over. I forget the name now. I had one, with a sniper post reticle, it was very good until it got old. Anyone remember them? They were all the thing for a while.

Another choice is a 1937 PEM soviet scope, my favorite, forward turrets and sniper reticle, they look strong and period too, scan ebay under soviet scopes, you'll get them without the mauser mount for $200 US, they also make a newer, post war model with mid turrets, same price

This is great. A few more scopes to look at. Are the Russian scopes 1 inch tubes?

Weaver K 2.5 in a repro mount with a No. 53 below it. IIRC the Russian scope brand is "Kalinka" (?).

Yes, Steve got it, Kalinka,they're still being made and do a 32mm 4x scope with forward turrets.
The pem scopes are a metric thing, but are either exactly one inch or a fraction larger, I haven't handled one to know.

It was quite some time ago, but somebody with an unfinished (T) was looking for a 'scope to use. I, and others, looked about and the K2.5 was the number one choice hand's down.

I checked again and I have a Weaver K3, not the K4. Works great and looks the part.

how is the eye relief on the K2.5 and K3.

Off the subject. What is a #4 Mk 1 T in immaculate condition going for these days without the shipping case. I have one and am thinking of selling it

Is the magnification 2.5x or 3x on the No 32. Also there seems to be many variants of the K2.5....any better than others for the No 4 T.

If you take a week or two on ebay looking at weavers,(under vintage scope or sniper scope) instead of fine cross hairs you will get them with a fine horizontal and post reticle, very similar to the no 32 reticle, and for under $100. The no 32 is 3.5 x, something to consider if looking at a weaver 2.5x, but you can get them in 4x commonly too.

All the 4x weavers i have seen have a bell at both ends. Is there a 4x that is the same shape as the 2.5x. and 3x

I think you're right, all the straight tube ones I've seen are 2.5's and the 4's are belled at both ends. sorry about that, almost a good idea. You can tell plenty of us have thought all these over a few times, and for the same reason, how to make a budget no32 look alike shooter.

My K3 is belled at only the eye end. I have been toying with the idea of adding a narrow sun shade on the other end to look just like the No. 32.

Now here's the one to buy, its an authentic enfield sniper use too. Lyman all weather alaskan, they were used on canadian snipers, very rare. The scopes the canuck used were serial numbered and are top dollar, however lyman made many others outside that serial range and they're cheap.

A weaver k3 look like the one for me.

I received my Sarco mount today. very nice. Any one know what the correct screws to mount the pads. Also I am missing the screw that goes into the front of the front site. What is the size of that one.

For screws etc, springfield sporters or numrich, they mostly list and illustrate the bits ,so you could ID that sight screw.

Was rooting about and found my faux bracket w/ a Burris 4X Compact mounted in it. The turret is not forward of the front ring but otherwise looks pretty darn good w/ its matte finish and ever so slightly belled objective.

Now called a "Timberline", apparently.

I have one that might be what you're referring to, I believe it's called a Red Star scope. It roughly resembles a No. 32 and has the sniper post reticle although the verticle post is not at a right angle to the verticle lines.
