A past auction from the same seller,
USGI Winchester M1 Carbine Stock + Handguard Set - eBay (item 300332189338 end time Jul-31-09 13:05:47 PDT)
Looks like he's getting a little better at applying the cartouches. This latest one actually looks like it has a little age on it.. But I've never seen them applied that crooked. IMHO

This one is much more believable
Good detective work Charlie!
I would not buy anything from this guy.
It's amazing what these crooks will try.
I like the way the "original" acceptance stamps remain so well preserved, but the post war rebuild stamp on the same stock stamped years later is well worn.
I guess the GI's must have been proud of the CC and took good care of them! https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...9/07/Doh-1.gif

One rebuild stamp....stamped over another.
Buyers beware.
Charlie
Funny how the two rebuild stamps are faint but the WRA GHD is crisp, clean and new...Caviat Emptor...
You know what strikes me??? On the first one at least, deep in the sling and the oiler cut, is unstained wood... No way this would be original GI....
Seems like an indication of heavily reworked lumber... If it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't!!

I was hoping someone would notice the I cut oiler. Does that cut look to be 60 years old?
I've been trying to watch these new cut stocks and follow who is buying them.
Look closely......big difference between old growth walnut and todays walnut. Much of the walnut we see around now is coming from out of country and may be a sub species.
Charlie
Charlie, I've seen those new I cut stocks on GB, but I thought they were all low wood. Is someone now selling new I cut highwood unmarked stocks? That wood be scary.....Frank
I wonder how much "Honor" is worth? Seems to me that since these humped stock and parts are going to "restore" carbines, there would be a market for them even if they were sold as reproductions. While not a collector, I have followed it for almost three years since I joined the old carbine forum on CSP. It seems to me that back then humped parts were the exception rather than the rule. Now they are the rule, rather than the exception. I can not even imagine trying to collect in this humped parts minefield! Ugh!
Good way to put it Rangemaster.
Humping parts is off the hook these days. I haven't bought any carbine parts for quite some time now just because of that. I'm in need of an NPM type II stock and have my order in with the premier carbine stock guy that I know can be trusted. Other than that, I'll do without.
I think the answer to this question comes down to the word "worth". They are doing it for the $$$$$$ not just the fun of fooling a bunch of rich (???) and senile (!!!!) old guys.
Look, guys, these humpers are committing fraud. Its a crime it meets every legal element of the crime. Same as someone knowingly selling you a fake Rolex watch. The only difference is that if you bought the watch and then discovered it was a fake, you would call the police. These humpers are presenting these faked items as the real thing. They clearly SAY its the real thing. But has anyone who has purchased from them called the police for being swindled? No. Additionally, it is happening across state lines so that makes it a federal offense. Now, with that said, I am not dense enough to think that the FBI or ATF (since is it C&R related) is going to drop every violent crime or terrorism investigation to worry about a $45 stock being humped and then sold for $120. But will someone WHO IS IN A VICTIM STATUS please make a police report !?!?!?!?!? I wish I had the time and money and collector's reputation - I would buy one and the report it as a fake once I received it and verified that it was faked.
