...back in the '80s , lost the bbl insert in a move. Still have the rest. Picked up another complete kit about 5-6 yrs ago , it was in an A3 for a while . It's out now , will put it into a low numbered WW1 reciever when I get around to it.
Anyone have a loose bbl insert?
Chris
about 3 or so go on the auction sites in the last 5 or so years. Seem to bring about $600 for a complete set. Depends on condition and completeness.
FWIW,

Chris -
I've never seen a 'loose' barrel for sale; nor the magazine or TG. As EMRI said I've only seen two complete Kits for sale on auctions in the last 4-5years and only one with an original instruction sheet. Both were as EMRI said were about $600.00 then.
My guess is that most folks that may have the parts don't know what they are for. Without the box or the instruction sheet they are very hard to ID.
If I ever see a 'loose barrel' I'll let you know.
:beerchug:
...Mags are easy though. Any of the M65 Reising or the other H&Rs in that series should work.
Chris
I also have a complete kit with instruction sheet in its original shipping box. I will have to post the address to which it was shipped. I have never put it into a rifle. I guess one of these day I should.
Some additional information: my kit was mailed from Bruce Woodin & Assoc, Woodstock, NY on 9 September 1959 to L. S. Rouse, 1358 Darlong St, Ogden, Utah for $.69 postage. There is a note on the label that says "Ins, $19.95"
I too have all the parts except the barrel insert. Strange how these go missing. It would be nice if one of you owners would post the specs for the insert. They should not be hard to make.
the insert is not dificult for a good machineist , a friend made one for me , i fitted it to my remington M1903A3-4gery , added a M2 bolt and headspaced it , works great

A Square 10,
Has your freind got a drawing he worked to? is that an o,ring that is used to hold it in place or to protect the chamber? Am looking to produce one myself for my RIA low number receiver 1903, was in a dilema as to use it with reduced/squib loads but think the .22 conversion would be the best bet.
...I don't see the feed ramp nor a radius on the chamber , so I'm betting yours is a single shot. The kits fed from a mag. The inserts also have a locking lug to engauge the upper locking lug mortice.
Chris
I just received a M1903 with the Numrich insert installed. How do I get it out of the barrel?
TIA
M1903rifle:confused:
....that you use. It's "L " shaped with a guide that fits in the .22 chamber. A fatter disc area is behind that fits over the feed ramp. You turn the tool like a bolt unlocking. This rotates the upper locking stud to where it can slide back. Just gently push it out with a .30 cal cleaning rod.
If you have just the bbl. and want to sell it , I'd like first dibs:D.
Chris
Oh , if your going to shoot '06 , be aware that the ejector was removed and needs to be replaced. If the ejector's in the gun , It'll need to be removed so the bbl locking lug can pass , allowing the insert to slide out.
All correct info. I prefer to remove the barrel (after its turned with the tool) with a .22 Cal rod inserted thru the receiver and patch it at the muzzle end with 3/4's of a .30 Cal patch left dry and "pull" the barrel insert out. Prevents muzzle damage.
The tool is cut so as to go over the Barrel insert cartridge feed ramp. The barrel has one (1) lug and is inserted clock-wise until fully locked. Removal is counter-clockwise. See my previous post on how to pull the barrel insert from the host barrel.

Mike........Thanks for the pictures. I'm not sure if I can make one , but maybe I can get one made.

sorry not to get back quicker - ive been tied up with work and i flitter about on the net - dont always get back regularly ,
do enjoy these topics tho ........responce -
no , i sent him specs id found on 3006 cartige dimensions and a fireformed case , also the bolt to fit the extractor , the O-ring holds it securely and allows removal [if one ever decides to] i think its an excelent alternative to sqibbs in a low number reciever ,
yes , mine is a single shot , i collect comonwealth trainers and find the single shot most in keeping with my interest there ,
i have commercial repeaters in bolt , lever , and semi auto that fullfill that need :>}
I live just south of Gettysburg, Pa. and we're gonna get slammed with a big Snow Storm tommorow.
I've spent the day "chaining" up my big John Deere Tractor and mounting my 6' Snow Blower on it.
Maybe tommorow night I'll try to take some measurements and Post them here on this thread. If not i'll do it a day or two. I've got one (1) mile of Farm lanes to keep open so be patient.
FWIW - On Gunbroker. not mine nor do I know the seller.

Will this type kit work on a Remington 721? Is one available for a 721?
