Philly,
I don't know about the RMC, but there is something strange looking about that band - and the way the handguard fits in the back grove. In fact there is a large gap between the stock and the handguard in the left side.
Just an observation....
I found the giant RMC in the slingwell funny looking along with the CC on the side. I also found the color of the receiver, barrel, front band, slide, trigger housing and bolt odd.And they are all the same color. It also looks like fresh scrapes like the front sight had just been pushed off. How did I do am I learning anything?
Tired Retired, you are seeing something strange about the band alright. It is not on all the way. Not far enough to seat in the spring. Thus leaving a gap at the other end. Shows on the photo from the bottom as well.
That's not the only thing strange looking. Goofy looking leaf sight. Been reparked. Nice crack on the right side of the stock. :help:
How do you even know it is a Rock-Ola other then what they wrote? There is no photo showing the receiver. Or the barrel marking for that matter. :dunno:
I'll stop there, let someone else have some fun. :dancingbanana:
Strange alright, as in gives me the willies.
$1299.95 but at least no bids, so far. :nono:
Fat bolt parkerized? Band spring has more wear than the receiver? Stock maybe sanded as buttplate doesn't seem recessed enough and mag well proturudes too much? Marks on rear sight maybe from an installation tool used recently? Type I band mint, though stock used and looks like a type III band wear half way up the barrel? It does look like muzzle end had marks from removing sight. Just uneducated guesses on my part.
Also no mention of any barrel markings.
The wood doesn't look right either That is an odd CC for a Rock-Ola. It is humped together with a lot of odd parts.
ok, ok, ok... I finally got it... I understand that there are problems with this one... so you think I should offer the guy a bid of $1,199.99 instead ????????
i think the reason for the barrel band is , the hand guard wasnt correctly installed into the receiver as you can see from the pics. the reason i posted this,is was the rmc stamping in the sling well done like that at anytime? although the spacing is wide, it is straight
Look at recess around left locking lug, I don't know of any USGI receivers
with that machine work. I know that band is A-O from new stock, and won't fit GI. Buttplate looks smooth like Alpine. Iver Johnson HG had huge rivets like that.
Any body know who made the Receiver? "Rock Island"
Actually, I think the early RMC in the sling bevel is about the only thing that is correct! Yes, I said correct. Some early RMC made stocks had those larger letters.
Ok, I guess my bid goes down to $ 1.98 cents .... I dropped it a penny from Bill's advice....
questionable " RMC "

Looks likes there is RMC stamped in the slingwell with a possible flaming bomb above the M.
Real......no.
Early handguards have the stacked RMC letters stamped seperately, but they're a different size and style.
There's no sign of the drilled thru hole for the buttplate screw in the bottom of the slingwell.
The small repro CC looks like the Springfield Armory stamps and it's been applied over a finished stock very recently.
The oiler slot gives the stock away also...
The I cut has the the top and bottom recess cut.
On 2 original I cut RMC stocks I have here, neither show recess cuts.
I see this is a consignment sale. It appears the 'seller' didn't go out of his way to document anything in his pictures.
Anyone sure it's a USGI?
Barrel....Rock-Ola?
Rule of thumb, bad pictures along with none showing the vitals = turn the page to the next item.
If you have the time stroll thru some of their other carbine auctions and see if you can keep count on the fake barrel bands and swivels, cut down barrel bands, fake flip sights, fake flips with the leafs installed backwards, no rear sights, import marked barrels not mentioned, missing buttplates, ....etc
