I wonder how easy would it be to remove the parkerizing that the seller says was sprayed on the bolt handle and trigger guard by a previous owner, or if it would even be worth the effort and/or any potential risk to the components? Pity he won't take trades - I might have been able to trade 2 Enforcers for that lol.

Nice rig. That would be a special kit if you were able to bring this one home.
I'd say it belongs in a museum, but then we'd never get to hear or see a range report.

We've gone as far as we can on it. Oh, well. Too much other stuff going on.

Thanks Badger for posting this in here, As far as removing the Parkerizing, its only on the bolt and the band that wraps the stock. I would think it would be easy to remove. I purchased the rifle from a guy that says it was like that when he purchased it back in the 70's. I find it hard to believe that it was done at the armory. I think we were 2nd highest bidder on the first auction, but haven't kept track as I don't do internet auctions myself.

Why remove the Parkerizing? That would leave bare metal underneath. It needs a coat of Suncorite 259 paint baked on over top of the fresh degreased Parkerizing and it'd good as new and original.

I was looking for a L42A1 Sniper for my son. he is a Canadian Soldier (PPCLI) laying in bed with cancer and told me he wanted a Lee Enfield sniper rifle. Is this one still on auction or for sale?

Nice bit of kit, possibly out of my price range, but while looking at a No4 T (see link below) it was the serial number that rang a few bells, its 525 rifles older.

You're right Brian. I was wondering what he meant at the start. What is a brand new IWS, in the correct box worth in the US Brian?

Before you ask, the correct box/chest for the IWS should be the larger dark green box that caters for the Auto Brightness Control (the ABC unit). But it's all pretty academic. The correct box is shown on an article I wrote a couple of years ago

It's hard to determine value as the original IWS scopes are very rare over here in the USA. I know I wouldn't part with mine for anything less than a King's ransom!

The L8 sight is known as the CWS (common weapon sight) and will fit on virtually anything. The L96 is obsolete now and the narrow sight rail caused a few interchangeability problems that could only be solved with an adaptor rail - which then raised the CWS a bit. All solved now though
