Funny, I was just reading about this one in War Baby II this afternoon. It's cast aluminum, except for detachable buttstock.

Most of that aftermarket junk was before my time jmoore, but I've seen a lot of stuff over the years from that era. (I haven't seen the 'Commando' conversion)
I wonder how many rare carbines sold through DMC, etc were butchered back then when they were cheap, and the original stocks with original markings, etc were thrown away or stuffed in a packed garage over the years to make these 'fine' conversions. :crying:

To make things worse it doesn't even use Thompson magazines. It uses M3 "greasegun" mags!:confused::confused::confused:Quote:

I remember the stocks. I would think they disappeared because you would buy it for the thompson butt and salvage the aluminum for scrap.
I saw "new" Thompson butts all over for $10-15 until the mid nineties. Seems an expensive waty to get one.
Up here in Canada, not so. I didn't look at what they want on Ebay for it as I wouldn't deal with them. We saw a few of those butts here but not even many of the guns made it here.

Using that standard then everything in existence can be judged as "Military Issue", even though it was not produced under a Military Contract.
Because our government does not produce anything directly does not mean there is not a difference. Commercial copies never met the inspection or quality standards of items produced under Government Contracts from WWII through the 1970's.
The stock is up to US$101.00 !!! 14 bids. We're missing out on a "rare" collectible!?!?
Or are we driving the price up?...
